Aem wideband help
I'm trying to log my car on evo scan but I need to know how to hook up my aem wideband to the laptop so I can send my afr to jester for a tune, anything will help I'm a noon to this whole tuning stuff!!thanks Chad

you need to go buy a serial connector. its called a RS-232 (DB-9) Female Receptacle.
get it at radio shack for like 5$.
connect the blue wire from the aem to pin 2 on the connector. then ground out pin 5 to a good ground on the chassis. if your laptop has a serial input then you are all set. if its a newer laptop without a serial input then you need to buy a serial to usb adapter. those are like 20-30$
there are cheaper ones but from my experience, they dont work. get a good quality serial to usb adapter.
after that, it should work and evoscan will pick it up.
to test it you can use HyperTerminal under : Start>All Programs>Accessories>Communications
Name the New Connection and click OK. Set the COM port to the one being used and click OK.
Bits Per Second = 9600
Data Bits = 8
Parity = None
Stop Bits = 1
Flow Control = Hardware
once you have all those settings just click ok and it should display the a/f if the gauge has power and the car is running.
those instructions were taken from the wideband manual.
