ECU location/harness removal

OK, while I am a newbie to this forum, I am not a newbie to cars... and this is a total noob question...

I am pulling the engine/tranny from my Evo IX.

The harness on this car is ungodly overly complex compared to EVERY other car I've ever known... The engine harness links up to the wiper motor... REALLY?!?!?

Anyways... I have traced the harness through the firewall, then it disapears under the center console.

Now, am I making this whole thing overly complex to pull the harness? Is there some mid connector I am missing? Some trick to getting this ***** out of the car? Where the hell is the ECU located?

In other words... How the hell do I get the Harness unplugged from the body so I can get this damn thing out of the car?!?!?

OK, found the damn ECU... but this harness octopuss' everywhere...

found a pic of the harness online... and modified it...

Where does all this go to, and is there an easier way of doing this job that I just don't see?

I just don't see how or why mitsubishi would make this as difficult a job as it seems to me...
