Unhappy MAF calibration question

What up all,

I've been playing with my utec for about a week now and with all the data logs i have recorded I have never hit above load site 80. The tps calibaration is about dead on. In the setup screens the maf min is set to 6 and the max is set to 17. here is a log snippet:

4409,+24.7,1199,100, 30, 00, +2.8, 52.0, +9.0, -0.9,100.00,1250
4655,+24.7,1146,100, 40, 00, +3.9, 52.0, +7.6, -2.8,100.00,1231
4916,+24.5,1165,100, 50, 00, +3.9, 53.0,+12.0, -5.2,100.00,1250
5128,+24.5,1278,100, 50, 00, +5.0, 56.0,+12.7, -5.5,100.00,1207
5393,+24.5,1474,100, 50, 00, +7.2, 59.0,+13.6, -6.7,100.00,1250
5649,+24.5,1428,100, 60, 00, +8.6, 60.0,+13.7,-10.0,100.00,1322
5899,+24.5,1388,100, 60, 00, +10.2, 63.0,+14.6, -9.4,100.00,1282
6127,+24.3,1416,100, 70, 00, +12.9, 65.0,+15.6,-11.6,100.00,1336
6397,+24.5,1492,100, 70, 00, +15.1, 65.0,+16.5,-11.9,100.00,1275
6574,+24.5,1628,100, 80, 06, +14.6, 68.0,+14.0,-12.7,100.00,1445
6761,+24.7,1712,100, 80, 00, +16.7, 69.0,+14.1,-13.4,100.00,1336
6973,+24.5,1587,100, 80, 00, +18.4, 69.0,+18.9,-13.4,100.00,1412
6706,+24.3, 528, 11, 00, 00, +36.1, 12.0,ECU. , +0.0,ECU. , 135
6195,+24.3, 62, 2, 00, 00, +38.6, 6.0,ECU. , +0.0,ECU. , 97

The only engine mods I have at the moment are a catback and a forge BOV.

I was woundering if I should lower the maf max value to 16? Any Ideas???

Looks like you have to maintain a MAF reading of over 1700 for more than a few milliseconds to get over that.. but its on load site 80.. check your maf min and maf max settings.. just verify that you are hitting the max.. if not, lower the max setting slightly.. you CAN lower it to 16, but see if you can get a sustained load (Third gear pull) and swee if you eventually hit it..

Thanx Jack.

I found it odd that the maf max was set to 17 (1700hz) and i was not even hitting 90% even though i was over 1600hz for more than 500 rpm...

I have not done any sustained 4th gear pulls yet, mainly becuase I am still working out the timing settings and am getting a little knock from time to time in 1st through 3rd around town. I do have the transition fairly smoothed out now, bairly even noticable in stop and go city driving.

The reason i ask is becuase if your only using 8 load sites you have less resolution than when using all 10... so I may try droping it to 16 and running some more logs to see what the result is......

i wonder if you are running less hertz if that means less air??? if so, i wonder if your air cleaner could be pluged or dirty????? And just not flowin well......

Thats another possibility, and at least worthwhile of a check.. but every car is a little different so with a stock box, and stock filter, and no other "flow enhancers" its entirely possible that he'd never hit 1700hz for any extended period.. Its odd that he never see's over the 80 load though..

Its also odd to see such low injector duty cycle at those rpm's and load levels..

Well,
I changed the maf max to 16 and can now sustain 90% load site:

Still working out the knock, just switched to a colder plug gapped at 026. No data log for the new plugs yet.

I think I'm just not flowing enough air right now to hit 100% load site. I'm still using the paper factory filter.... I have a dyno session next saturday so I'm gonna try to get a k&n in before the dyno... mainly working on timing right now.. once I see the AFR's I'll start working on the fuel map... right now I'm running the utec stage 1 fuel map.

Ohh, yeah the injector duty cycle has never realy hit over 75% so I think I'm gonna hold off on fuel pump upgrade until I hit closer to 90 on a regular basis.

I'll be going to a full 3inch turbo back shortly.

Your probably right.. I noticed as my filter got dirty, my max MAF frequency dropped a bit.. I just realized this earlier today..
