Mitsu did something similar with the IX but for different reasons. They produced a lot of IXs to cover the 06-07 model year and then produced an 08 Evo. I think there are too many 08 Evos sitting on the lots unsold. I think it is a good idea to wait for a 2010 model year. It should be better than an 08-09.

or this could be a ploy to get people on the fence waiting for 09's to bunker down and buy 08's? not to say the op is fibbing, but maybe this is like how mitsu had on the website 0% apr ends november, so youll buy in nov trying to make the cutoff when it was later announced the 0% was carried on through december and i have a feeling will carry on for at least winter... my skepticism also comes from a dealer looking at mitsu's database seeing the 09 blue mr's in there but not available for prepurchase, which means they are being built and/or are built but are waiting to be allocated i think. im just rambling the words of a devils advocate, not really trying to prove any points. or maybe they ship the few 09's theyve built and not build anymore? it takes 90 days to build the car and get it over here and on the flatrails, so i doubt they would have built some and decided not to try and sell them? i might be entirely wrong, or entirely right, or in a shade of grey...

this is the way it should be. new cars aren't needed every year. automakers should be taking the extra time to find out all the real problems and fix the cars and release a higher quality product the following year. not to mention ten thousand other reasons why we don't need new cars every year. there are too many cars out there! where are they all going???

exactly, the new evo is an excellent new product, but victim to the year it was released. first of the year you have the housing crisis (obviously still worsening but overshadowed by everything else); then you had the gas spike where no one in their right mind would buy a new car with less than 20mpg city, even a sports car; and now the economy is worse than ever and the few people that are willing to buy a car have to jump through hoops to get financed. every quarter it seems like there is a different reason why not to buy a car. if it werent for that i think that dealers wouldnt be able to keep the new evos on the lot! hell i know i looked at evos 2 years ago and said there was no way in hell id buy that car for a dd for that price, they were uglier than stis in and out, and the stis still werent considered lookers! but now im down more than ever for an evo now they re-did it. and im pretty sure there are thousands of people that feel the same way. they want the performance but arent willing to sacrifice everyday practicalities that the older evos lacked. now if i could sell my z and decide if i want a gsr or mr!

FYI, that is how they list their VIN numbers, with all the vehicles they produce. if you look at the lower left hand corner of the listing, it will show the 2009 evolution X.
