i have a question about the t-25...

does boost fall off a little after it hits 15psi, as where the t-28 holds boost throughout the powerband? my friend kinda noticed the falloff on the t-25 on his gsx.

at the 6-7 psi we're running on the lancer, will it hold boost at 6-7 through out the powerband?

RIPPMODS is doing one. There really aren't really more or less problems, just different ones.

well the stock setting for the t25 was about 11psi, mainly due to a leaky factory plastic POS CBV, it just wouldnt hold any more. Upgrading the CBV and removing the BCS restrictor you could (with manual/elec boost controller pull a nice 15 psi) The t25 will not hold full boost to redline, it tapers down (on an eclipse). At that high of an RPM it tends to heat the air way too much and does nothing for you. The t25 at 6-7 psi wont have this problem in my opinoin. T25's are also known to be a little spikey. When I had my contoller set to 15 it would spike to 17 drop to 15 and hold pretty good there. In 5th gear at hi freeway speeds it does taper down below 15 but above 11. But then again my eclipse also redlines at 7.5k on the tach. The taper would happen around 6k. But isnt that hitten your redline for a lancer already. I dont see it as being so bad on your car.

Boost tapering has little to nothing to do with the turbo itself. It has to do with the wastegate, bov and/or ECU settings. Some wastegates and BoV's are known to leak boost, especially in higher RPM's (like stock 2g's). In the case of the Evo 8 you have the ECU tapering the boost from peak (around 18.5-19psi) to around 16psi at redline.

EDIT: Welp, Mobius beat me to it real good.

he's right about the wastegate, being internal vs external, they can suffer from, I believe the term is "fluttering".

I'm only gonna be running about 5-6 psi intercooled until I can put in pistons, rods, and valve springs. My ideal would to find a salvage motor next year and build it all up inside and out then drop it in keeping the original in the garage in case of emergency or I decide to trade it in.

That doesn't change the cost however. In all practicality it's cheaper to do it all on one engine.

if your on a tight budget i would go with nitrous. but thats risky. nitrous will ruin your engine one way or another. mabye you should just save money. because if your in a hurry to boost your car will be on the side of your house in a month or two. (broken)

Superchargers Suck

If you want to boost your car, you should get a turbo. Superchargers are inferior to turbo's in many ways.

I disagree...each has its ups and downs. I am sure we all know what those are.

true tis true that both have ups and dwns, supercharger may not get the same numbers as a turbo but a supercharger is giving you power as soon as you gain rpms, especially the automatics. this would be good for them. the turbo is good for higher HP numbers and is good for ppl with clutches. i have problems with my motor mounts as it is. mostly i have to replace them, lol. but the supercharger you dont have to wait on spooling. its hard to get an auto matic to spool the turbo without taking out the torque converter and putting an aftermarket high stall in. if you go turbo you have the higher boost of power all at once. if i try to do psi i want a supercharger for my lancer, but i cant find any. i may just get a small turbo.
