What kind of pressures do you see at idle after warmup and after a WOT run?

At this time i haven't gotten a gauge for the oil pressure, but we checked at the time of the install and used a oil pressure restrictor to prevent damage to the turbo

Ummm.... I would be more concerned about having a lack of pressure, not too much. I'm currently running 15W40 and the lowest pressure I've seen is around 12psi at idle.

im using 10-30w full synthetic too.. i guess i need an oil gauge to see how everything is... what should we do to prevent any damage to the turbo?? are there any full synthetic oils that would work better than 10-30w??

^ i believe you mean a 10W30 right? So far no one can really say that synthetic or conventional is better for turbo app but there are people on both sides who have been successful with each one.
As for the oil pressure at the turbo feed issue, like senate said a lack of oil pressure ould be more of a concern than too much. Check your turbo oil feed inlet to see if the housing already has a restrictor. It will just look like a little hole at the end of the inlet. If there is none you would be able to see the bearings and what not thru the inlet. If there isn't a restrictor than an external one is necessary and only if.

depending on what kind of turbo you have is the real concern. If you have just a oil cooled turbo than you really need to know pressure and if you are feeding it right, both water cooled and oil cooled turbos will cool down faster than just a oil cooled and you won't need to leave the car at idle for long. I wouldn't use conventional because it will sludge and coking would occur and won't burn into ash like synthetic will. Leaving old oil in the turbo will of course cause damage.

---Edit---

And also foil bearings(water cooled/oil cooled) also eliminate coking

lol i meant to just say foil bearings eliminate coking, pretty much causes less wear and tear to the turbo and increase reliability, run at higher speeds and won't really need maintenance

oil/water cooled - The water boils inside cartridge and when the engine is shut off it recirculates to drain away the heat. Double cooling which makes a more reliable turbo

oh foil bearings are a type of bearings.. I thought you were referring to a type of bearing that was thin like foil LOL!! i get it....

for turbo guys that want to run thinner synthetic oil:

i switched from Gastrol GTX 20w-50 to Amsoil 10w-30 and my oil pressure is around the same.

the only difference i noticed is that the oil pressure is around 15-20 PSI during idle when the car is in operating temperature, compared to 20-25 PSI with Castrol.

Amsoil has some crazy oil, it was like pouring cranberry juice when i was putting it in

Overall its nice, quieter engine during idle and it seems the engine revs easier

A thinner oil for turbo? I thought higher viscosity meant less thermal breakdown......During a long drive in traffic i see at most 210F even with an oil cooler installed.....
