Help a newbie
I just got a 03 lancer oz rally manual tras. This is my first car and a blast to drive, but i'd like a little more horsepower cause 120 is a little weak. I'm not looking for extreme hp gains, i'd like to get my lancer to 200hp tops. i don't plan on racing my car at the track or anything. what i'm asking is for any suggestions that will give my car some bite, as of now its all bark...i didn't have any $$$ for the evo ...i've been thinking about a cold air intake, or even a turbo that doesn't require any big mods. suggestions would be much appreciated as i have just recently become a car enthusiast.

Welcome to the world of the lancer!, now to lay it on you. Our cars are actually more around 108 hp at the wheels and going for a 200hp lancer you will be going turbo and spending some bucks
but to help with your question..
an intake will give you around 8 hp...
there is no turbo with out big mods and your looking at 3k for a good one. (see RRM website for EVERYTHING to make your lancer go faster at the best prices.) though you can get a starter kit for around 1500
good luck and like I said welcome aboard!

Thanks Bro.
I'd like to get to 200 Hp more down the road because i don't wanna mess with my warranty just yet. But would an intake be my first step?
What kind of hp gains will i get from a $1500 turbo?...i'd think i would run it at 5 psi cause from what i've read from posts thats a safe psi to run with a stock engine...will i need an intercooler for 5 psi? and what the hell is a decompresion plate?
i appreciate your help

I believe you would still have to buy the piping after you bought the starter kit. I think it is basically if you already have pipe or know someone who can custom bend it for you. Chek out their website to make sure though.

save the 1300 and get the turbo when you have the cash... turbo comes with intake and RRM turbo will be CARB legal soon!! Getting it tested withing a month and then its game on... price WILL go up you can expect that. Since it will be carb legal mitsu can't void the warranty at all!! If i was you i'd put that money down on the kit that way you lock in the price before the CARB cert gets done so you'll get it cheaper. The kit is complet and will get you going at @190whp/wtq without internal mods at all... its all simple bolt ons and done on a weekend by most. If you buy a 200 intake then exhaust then, etc... soon you'll see about a 12-15hp increase for 1300bucks when you could have an 80hp increase at the wheels for 2990!! Also to have that legal and not a warranty issue!! You win in more ways than one on the deal and then you get to seriosly kick some butt on the road!
