HK,
It will take a lot of fuel management and tuning to get 20 psi on 9:1 CR, on the very edge. IMO, the lancer needs to drop CR to the level of DSM.
Look at the DSM from 8.5 to 8.7:1 CR, they can crank +20 psi.

Running 20psi would probably take less engine work than you think. Decompress to 9.0:1, forged pistons and connecting rods, possible knife edged crank (dunno if that's necessary, but I believe it probably would be at that level), a P&P on the head and a new valve train. Viola! Basically as long as there's fuel, there is boost. Obviously you'd need a new clutch. And you may run into problems with exploding axels at some point along the line, but nobody really knows right now. At any rate, I plan on running around 1 bar daily when I get my car back together and get to the root of my fuel delivery problem.

In order to more fficiently spool a turbine at 20psi it's going to take a bit more revs and a good bit more breathing than the Lancer provides in stock form.

My mate is running over 30psi (Gauge only goes to 30psi) on his 1.8lt SOHC lancer with a huge turbo.
It even fri's the tyres in 5th with 293kw at the wheelshttp://www.fullboost.com.au/racing/r..._4cyl_fwd.html
He is the 12 or somthing fastest in Australia.

his smaller engine probably revs higher and faster than the 2.0l lancers we have. The head needs to be ported and polished on our lancers to make them breath properly. a low flow head will hamper any turbo plan, no matter what. also, a change of cam profile will help out too.
