Pistons

Well I guess getting my turbo repaired didnt fix my problem. Im still smoking bad so I guess I cracked a piston ring or something. I was wondering will the evo x piston and rings be a direct fit for the N/A 4b11 engine? If so, I was going to just put the evo piston and rings in my car and up the boost to about 18psi or so.

Why? It's the same motor other than the evo has forged internals. So why couldn't I use those forged internals?

Its a different crank but if u get only the pistons it should work as long as u get the same bore size but it might change ur cr but dont quote on me im just a cableguy lol

this wont work either. they are actually completely different motors. the evo X pistons wont work because the rod pin is a different size. You would have to get new rods as well. that gives you 2 options:

1. Custom rods to fit the evo pistons and lancer crank

2. evo X rods, which means you have to do other things:
a. get the evo crank and machine your block to fit the evo crank, OR
b. get the evo crank AND evo X block, but this means:
- you dont know if the accessories (AC, PS, Alternator, etc.) will bolt on

yeah, good luck dropping evo X pistons in trust me, I've looked into it.

evo x pistons are 23mm wrist pin the lancer na is a 21mm wrist pin. Also the end of the rod the goes to the crank is diffrent. Best solution zack is to contact wiesco and get a custom piston set $600 from them. have them build 9:5 pistons and get a 1mm head gasket. that would put you around 8:8-9:1. The rods and crank and forged in our motors however the pistons are a light wieght alloy. Upgrading just the pistons would let you run a safe 16-18 psi and net you around 300whp easily. The pistons in the evo are smaller in height and they also use a 1mm head gasket we run taller pistons and thinner head gaskets. The head flows the same as the evo. The evo has a diffrent head gasket due to the extra cooling passages that the 4b11 na does not have. A custom gasket would be your only choice. If you really plsn on redoing the pistons pick up a 4b12 crank and rods. Bore your motor out .030 and have a nice 2.3 stroker 4b11 na turbo. 350whp all day long.

Why not to use NA 4B11 head gasket with Evo X internals on NA 4B11 block? It should fit properly.
