Exhaust setup on Turbo Lancer

I keep getting pulled over by cops for my Greddy Evo II catback on my turbo Lancer and I'm thinking of removing it.

I was wondering if there will be considerable downsides of going back to the stock cat-back. I actually would keep the 2.5" downpipe and the highflow cat I currently have.

What do you guys think?

does it have an option for you to put a silencer on it? I'm thinking you are getting pulled over for noise?

No I cannot put a silencer! Actually the exhaust is very quiet; you can barely hear it, except at idle. The thing is the muffler and tip are huge and the cops are pretty severe over here.

Why not just buy a smaller muffler/tip with the same noise level?

is your muffler really mounted to your rear control arm?

This would be an idea, but since it's a full cat-back and it comes this way from the factory I'm just thinking of selling it and going back to stock, but this is definitely an idea.

Would going back to the stock exhaust create too much back pressure?

Just add abullet style muffler after the cat...two mufflers will keep it quiet

I dont think going back to the stock cat-back would be too bad if your keeping the dp and hfc. If you still have the stock cat-back why not just swap it and see? If your worried about damaged caused by back pressure I dont see that as an issue. Likely the most that will happen is a negligable loss in power

are u getting pulled over for sound violations?WTF? or other thing?

i live near 3 city that require 'mufflers' that will pull over most anything loud. becuase of strick sound ordance laws after dark. and with my 4 inch DUMP out the front bumper.. i have yet to get pulled over in any of those cities. and ive paced a few cops without issues..

oh and exhaust wise... if ur runing under 12psi.. oem exhaust is just fine, wont break anything. ideal conditions for max power, sure u might not want to. but ur talking a less then 5hp loss, if that. but i would suggest deleteing the cat. car will get a smidge louder.. but still close to stock

Great guys thanks a lot! The cat-back does not make a lot of sound, however because the muffler is huge and the tip is 3 inches I got tickets 3 times this summer. They say there is no air flow restriction or sound attenuator in the muffler.

I'm gonna go back to the stock cat-back. I will keep the aftermarket downpipe and highflow cat.

Just make your own 3'' exhaust with a magnaflow 1/2/3 chambers muffler they sell it for 125$ and all the tubing for the exhaust with the flanges is around 200$
