Cap or bigger alternator
If i run two 12's and two tweeters off a 1000W amp from a 208W SONY Xplode deck with 4 aftermarket speakers on it... Should I get a Capasitor or get a bigger alternator or will I even need to? Also, what speakers (brand) do you guys recommend for replacing the stock 2002 Lancer's speakers. I'm prolly looking to go 8 Ohm with the four spkrs form my deck but 1 ohm to my subs then 12ohm to my tweeters. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I prefer to have 2 12" JL Audio W3's as the subs (imclosed, not ported) Of course the 500X1 JL Class D amp and all kenwood mids and high's. Make sure with the mids and highs that u get another amp to run them........only run the tweets on the deck......BTW Get the 120amp rockford fozgate alternator works great.......also get a better deck.....i prefer the kenwood deck over all......they are great. Hope i have been of help.

Sweet..
thanx fro all of your insight. I think I'm gonna go with a Pioneer DEh-P7300 deck, pioneer Ts-a6117 6.5's, 2 pioneer Ts-w304C 12's, and a MTX box with an MTX thunder 6304 amp. What do you guys think?

About the cap or alternator issue-
If you are only going to install a new head unit and (1) sub amp you should be ok without adding a cap or alternator (depending on the TRUE output of your amp). If you are going to install a cap or alternator, start with the alternator, this will help if you are planning to add aftermarket lighting, additional stereo equipment, or any other electrical devices you plan to have on at the same time.

MTX is not my brand of chioce- however, I have done a few custom installs using MTX. A well designed and executed install will reward great sound. Use what sounds good to you and if your not going to install the system yourself, spend a little extra and get it done right.

Yes, JL Audio makes the best subs. Eclipse makes great sounding decks but they're kinda hard to find. As far as the speakers, any quality brand with quality amps should be fine.

do some research b4 you open you mouth. JL does make some decent stuff but no where near the "best". try brands like a/d/s, focal, adire audio, velodyne, image dynamics. basically, the stuff you can't get at best buy LMK if you want to learn more. or go here for more info.

An Image Dynamics sub in a poorly designed box will sound just as bad as a Jensen. Wherein, a JL sub in a well designed and built box has the ability to sound as good, if not better than those subs. Everything has potential (yes... even the Jensen ) It's just all about execution.

The "Best" would also depend on what type of sound you are going for. Are you going more for strictly bass or strictly sound quality or a mix of both? I have competed in USAC for a few years and I can honestly say that what may do very good in SPL won't do as good in sound quality and vice versa. Also with many of the bigger companies being so close in quality it's hard to pick a definite best. I think Kicker, JL, Memphis, Rockford are all very good. As well as Focal, Image Dynamics, etc. but those tend to cost a lot more. You can also have a relatively unheard of company that kicks *** too. We had four Hollywood Excursion 12's in my competition Probe and were kicking everybody's ***. We were hitting 159 db in the stock 151-300 class and I had never heard of them until my shop told me about them.
Anyway, ther's my two cents.
