Wiring (2) 4ohm subs to mono amp...

Ok, first off I did check the diagram in the owner's manual and checked on line. But since this is my first mono amp (Audiobahn A8000T) that I need to run (2) 4ohm SVC Polk Momos , I want some congruent advice since the manual doesn't have the exact answer. Running the 2 12" in large ported box; running wire from the sub's terminals to the speaker box terminals (+ to +, - to -). From these terminals, will I run the 2 directly into the + and - on the amp to get the 2 ohm load (which of course is stable) or do I connect the 2 box terminals together (serial) and run 1 set of wire to the amp?

Basically, I'm looking at this...

Just noticed something; isn't the forums time a little off? Odd...

yeah parallel will give your amp a 2 ohm load.
as long as you know the amp can take it you're fine

serial will give you an 8 ohm load not really what you want.

The above diagram is parallel, correct?

Yes, that is a diagram of parallel wiring. You could also wire sub (+) to (+) and then (-) to (-) on the box itself, then use one connection from either terminal to go to the amp.

so say i wire my subs together to one terminal, then i wire that terminal to my amp..

with two 4 ohm subs, i will be running a 2 ohm load correct.

yes assuming you wired them in parallel. Be sure that ur amp is 2 ohm stable.

Please bear in mind that an amplifier "sees" 1/2 the static impedance when mono bridged. So if your amp is not 1 ohm stable, I would be careful wiring ther subs in parallel (++, --) but, if you wire the subs in series, your static impedance would be 8 ohms and not be very loud. Basically, just keep a close eye on the temp of your amp and DONT max out the gain control. (never more than 70% is the rule of thumb)

^^^Don't you mean 2 ohm... Running the two 4 ohm SVC subs on the mono amp would create a 2 ohm load (which of course my amp is stable). They've ran really well with this setup; sounds hot!

BTW, saw your thread about our recommendations for amps you need. I'm running an Audiobahn Intake series (front mounting cooling fan) and it works really well. It has impressed me!

No, I mean 1 ohm. When you mono bridge an amplifier, it will see 1/2 of the static impedance you are presenting it. (2) 4ohm speakers in parallel=2ohm... 1/2 of 2 ohms is 1 ohm.

NOW, if the amplifier is truly a single channel amp (and not 2 channels bridged) then you should be ok.

I dont want an audiobahn amp. I dont have an excalade wit 24's...

This is a true 1-ch D-class amp, so i won't have issues there. Alpine was my second choice; maybe you should look into the MRD series. Just don't but retail; look at Ebay for starters...
