I swear im not a n00b in this area...but HELP!
Ugh i just posted this in OT by accident....so im reposting here.....
I have ALOT of experience wiring amps and subs....but i'm not sure in this case.
I want to get this amp: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=447
and a JL 12w7: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=9
The JL has a 1500 watt max and a 750 watt RMS with a 3 ohm impedance....
The amp is a 1500wattx1 at 2ohms
I've done alot of wiring of subs and amps but it was pretty straight forward and easy. I guess I've never understood how the impedance (ohms) comes into play with wiring and the resulting power output.
Does anyone know if i can get ~750 watts outta this amp to this sub? and if so how should i do the wiring?
thanks for your help, im not even sure if this is something stupid that i should know or if it is a common question.

First off. I recomend you dont cheap out when you buy an amp to pair with the W7. The thing about the amps and subs that JL makes is that they are made to pair with one another. Impedence and what not. The JL 500/1 or the 1000/1 would be your best bets for the W7.
This page shows the wiring posibilities for both the single voice coil subs and dual.

If you look at it, you don't have much of a choice as to how much impedence you can use with one sub.
I know you can run a higher impedence from you amp as long as you sub can handle a lower but i wouldn't do it. It could damage your sub and your amp. My advice to you would be to spend the extra cash and purchase a JL 500/1 or 1000/1 and the 10W7 or 12W7. I wouldn't go with any other combinations because first hand ive heard the difference and it is worth the extra money.
