What amp....?
#31
That's what I figured. So what are some trustworthy brands? I mean which are the most durable, long lasting, and widely used. I don't want to spend this kind of money for some speakers to just blow out in a couple months.
EDIT:Bene are these what you mean Amp and Subs?

Alright you've been a huge help. So that amp is good? I mean you've heard/had good experiences with Kicker amps? And the subs are 300 watt RMS but they are not the 5500's.
Also is ebay a good place to be buying this stuff (I've been stiff armed a couple of times). Is there any "online stores" that sell them about the same price (a little more I don't care).

yes, i love kicker amps and would recommend them to anyone, and yes i have one myself for my sub
those subs you looked at are not as good as the 5500s, but the 5500s have the same RMS and cost same/less
ebay is a good place to buy if your buying from an ebay store, or super seller the ones with like over 1000 feedback, they wont rip you off

Alright thanks. You helped me out soooo much. I will now try to convince my partents to *loan* me some money for them (subs, HU, Amp, wireing, ect.)
Just one last question: Will my car be able to handle the power draw from my amp/subs? Meaning the battery, alternator, or anything else that might be affected.
Edit: Just found out alot of the amps including the one I gave is refurbished to factory settings. Should I buy them ? I think that is the only reason why they are cheap.
Also ebay isn't all that more cheaper $48 shipping! So if I was to buy a amp and the speakers that is like $100 just in shipping.

depends on your preference, if i buy refurbished i buy with a warantee so i know it works
and yes your car can handle whatever you give it

Is that amp 600 watt x1 @ 2ohms or 300 watts? On HiFi it's 300 watts and on sonic it's 600 watts along with other websites.
How would I wire my speakers to have a 2 ohm load and then a 4 ohm load? Like THIS? Since the subs are 4 ohm do I have to wire them for a 4 ohm load or can I run at a 2 ohm load?
I'm the kind that likes to buy stuff new but that price on ebay is looking awesome but knowing something went wrong with the amp for them to refurbish it is making me want to buy it new. Have you ever tried buying something refurbished on ebay with succes and no problems? I mean there is no warrenty so... I'm basically on my own once I get it and if it is crap oh well... I just don't want to get in that position.

i bought my amp and sub from hifi, and both work perfect, no problems
you could only run 300 sense your subs are 4 ohm, stinks :/
therefore you might want a more powerful amp, but its more $$

So when you say 300 watts, is that 300w to each sub or is that 150w to each sub? And when a speaker is "4 Ohm" does that mean you can only wire the two subs in a 4 Ohm configuration?
Also HiFi doesn't have the 5500's, only in inclosed sub packages for like $450. So I'm probably going to buy the 5500's on crutchfield ($150 each new) along with a box ($60) and save like a hundred bucks.
what guage wire should I use also. 4?

150 to each sub, which isnt much, and yes you cannot get below 4 ohms sadly

119 each, save ya 60 bucks
yes 4 guage is fine, your not pushing over 1000 watts

Whats you're idea (different route)?
Is there any good subs that are capable of a 2 Ohm load? So that way I can use the 300w to each sub insted of the 150w with that kicker amp.
How about a single rockford fosgate dual 2 Ohm stage three, 12" sub? It is 100-500w RMS so I might have to find a different amp but alot of other people were pumping like 450w-600w to these subs so maybe 600w would be ok?

get a kicker L7, square sub has 30% more area for more bass and it has 2 ohm load, so it can be used at 1,2 or 4 ohms.. thats the route i went and 600 watts to that thing makes all my mirrors shake alot
rockford isnt a very good brand..

So what amp do you have? The Kicker KX600.1 that I've been looking at and your just running at the 2 ohm load to get the 600w? BTW I like the idea of one super sub. Saves room. I've read reviews on this sub and want them now .
My dad has a rockford fosgate system with an 8" sub in the back and it kicks alright. Sounds a little crappy but I figured it was because it was an 8".
Edit: I have some news and it's bad/good. Good: I get to buy a new HU this monday coming up. Bad: As for the amp and sub(s) I have to wait until x-mas for them . Well at least I will have time to think about what setup I want . It sucks that all my money goes to the parents for my car payments and insurance. I love my brand new lancer but i think it was a little to expensive...
