2008 RF system questions
For the folks that have already pulled apart the stereo on the Rockford-Fosgate system, what are your thoughts on the components?
Obviously I'm not expecting high-end, top-of-the-line components, but I'm just wondering if the speakers, tweeters, sub, etc are decent enough or crap.
My last car had a horrible sound system, so just getting this factory RF stereo has been a great upgrade. Just wondering if it's worth looking into a future upgrade or if the "stock" components are good enough until they wear out.
Anyhow, just shoot some opinions along.

It's really all a matter of taste.
The RF system is really good for a stock offering. It sucks compared to a decent aftermarket system though. The RF sub sounds really good for the amount of space it consumes. The external amp sucks and clips pretty hard at higher volumes. The speakers as a whole are good on bass but ****ty on treble. You can do way better for $200+ dollars but you really need an aftermarket amp to get that difference in sound quality.
I upgraded my cabin speakers recently and am pretty happy with the results. I keep hoping that what is there is good enough but I will probably break down and get a new 5 channel amp. I'm really just waiting on a wiring harness to come available. I will continue to use the sub solely because of the little amount of trunk space that it takes up.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, that's a good review.
I didn't actually know there was an amp in the system. Where is it located? I'm so used to seeing the big amps in the trunk, I wouldn't know what a factory one looked like.
