That's really a 6 of one, half dozen of the other choice... They're both nice amps with good features, made by respectable companies. In that situation it really comes down to price and looks since they share similar features.
My choice would be with the Alpine of these 2. Simply because I've not known anyone that's ever used the Octane R series, and I don't care for the look of them that much. PG makes quality products though, so I don't doubt the amp.
It's really a coin toss.

As for other suggestiosn if you only care about power, the JBL BP600.1 will push whatever you've got all week. If you need things like a subsonic filter, bass EQ, bells and whistles (similar to what oth of these amps have) it's not the amp you want.
It really depends what you're looking for, and what you've got to spend. I suggest you check out some of the following brands:
Hifonics
Orion
PPI
Zapco
Soundstream
JL
JBL
MMATS
Memphis
Xtant
MTX
Kicker
Autotek
Concept
Tsunami
Avionixx
Resonant Engineering
That list should basically cover all price points, and many many styles. I've personally installed amps from 3/4 of these manufacturers and never had a problem with any of them (the other 1/4 are products friends use and haven't had problems)
At least it's enough to get you started.

US Acoustics makes some pretty solid amps. I can't believe they didn't make the list, a friend of mine uses 4 of their amps in his truck... (that's what I get for writing a list off the top of my head)
