So....I ordered a Pioneer FH-P8000BT, Metra install kit, and HD Tuner

I will have a full write-up on installing an aftermarket headunit into a 08' lancer with the standard 4-speaker stereo by the end of this week hopefully. I'll also get some good pictures and wire descriptions for everybody.

I'm very excited about this, and can't wait to get this stuff in the mail! I love the features and looks of this double-din headunit.

Parts ordered:

Pioneer FH-P8000BT
Metra Install kit
Metra Wiring Harness
Pioneer HD-tuner

Well crutchfield has it listed for $330, but they don't have it in stock. I looked on Ebay and found this unit brand new for $280 with free shipping. I also purchased the HD Tuner from crutchfield for $100. The metra kit and wiring was also a few more bucks. All together I've probably spent around $420ish.

I also went with the double din because the 08's stock headunit is more of a double-din style. I'm not a big fan of the single din's in such a big opening, so this will fit with the metra kit nicely.

Keep us all posted on the install. I hope you can find a way to keep the steering wheel controls using the adaptor for your deck. Good luck!

If you can't find one on Ebay, surprisingly you can buy it at Newegg. A friend of mine just bought the same unit and received it today.

I never even knew Newegg started carrying car electronics.

Damn, thats pretty cheap! I got mine off ebay. Yeah I had no idea newegg carried that kind of stuff.

I will get some photos tonight of my dash kit with the unit installed in it, and the wiring. I've had the unit for a few days now, I just haven't had much time to get it installed or take any pics. I will be installing the unit into the lancer this Saturday, so expect some nice pictures.

Thanks man!

The pictures are a little fuzzy and poor quality (Had to reduce quality a lot in order to upload). This new headunit sounds so much better than the stock unit, and now my radio reception is exceptional. The HD radio sounds amazing, and my stock DE speakers sound a lot louder now.

I installed the blue-tooth microphone on the steering column, and the Pioneer USB cable also. Everything fit nice and neatly. The lancer has a lot of room behind the headunit and glove box. I installed the HD radio unit next to the blower box. Installation was smooth with very little problems. Just make sure you transfer all the white clips from the stock headunit face plate over to the metra install kit.

Quick Reply: So....I ordered a Pioneer FH-P8000BT, Metra install kit, and HD Tuner
