12v power source

So...I'm reinstalling my gauges because my EGT was never properly wired amongst other things. I checked my wiring and everything works on a direct 12v source, but I'm looking for a 12v source that turns on/off with the parking/headlights so that I don't have to run my gauge lights off a switch. Could anyone please help me out here? If you have a pic that'd be awesome, if you have a verbal description, that should be just fine too. Once again I have managed to render my car temporarily undrivable. ...

hit up the dimmer switch power before it gets to the dimmer switch, would that work?

Guess I could try it. Long story short I'm locked out of my car right now and looking for ideas. I already need to tap something else into the dimmer though...was wondering if anyone knew the location of the parking/headlights power source though.

that was my first idea but I have NO clue where the wires are for thos... maybe just follow some wires from the steering collumn and use a voltage tester.

you're locked out of your car and this is your main priority??
you are a much more relaxed person than I

My good friend's a locksmith. Once he gets back from a lockout he'll have me back in the car in no time. Looks like I'm playin' with the multi meter.

I use to be able to break into my old car in about 30 seconds. I'm glad I've never had to try it in the lancer yet (knock on wood).

I just had another idea.... could just go directly to the head lights, and find the power wire there that turns on with the switch... but I think thats taking the wiring to an extreme, and ou'd have to run the wires all the way back inside.

You can tap into the fuse box for this:

Ended up using a green wire with white stripe that comes from the dimmer and also is switched along with the lights. Thanks all.
