Exclamation adding an amp

so yeah i am adding a 120w(speakers) amp under the driver seat and my current amp 600W(SUB) power cable runs right next to my seat i was thinking about just tapping into the power cable? good Idea? or should I just run another cable directly from the batt?

also does anyone have pics of custom install for rear door speakers?

What gauge power wire do you have? If you have a 4 gauge or bigger you could split it if not i would run another one

Run 4 gauge from the battery to a distribution block inside the car close to both amplifiers, then run 8 gauge out of the distribution block to each amplifier. Remember that your inline fuse located near the battery only has a certain number of amps it can handle. You can easily determine how much amps an amplifier uses by looking at the fuses at adding up the total. Say your two amps are 75 amps and the other is 50 amps. you will need a 125 amp fuse inline with the battery to give enough power to your system.

Last question

Ok i perfectly understand what your are saying...now should i just have the one fuse or two like so?
____________________ ---------40fuse-----amp
BATT------------splitter----------60fuse-----amp

BATT-------100fuse-----splittler------ Amp
___________________________ ------ Amp

what would be better to protect the amps?

All three. The "splitter" needs to be a distribution block, preferably one that you can put fuses into so you don't need separate inline fuses for each amp.

BATT---within 3 feet of battery->(100 amp inline fuse)------distribution block---(with both fuses for each amp and then run wires accordingly)---amp.

It's really easy once you get the hang of it. I'm working on my 4th system so I have a good bit of install experience.

EDIT: Let me explain further why all three is best...

Say your battery kicks out a load to your system thats too high and potentially dangerous. The first fuse will stop this from harming your system. Now say the load comes out fine from the battery and through the first inline fuse, now it is going to split that power to each individual amp from the distribution block. A fuse on the distribution block will prevent the first load from the battery from potentially harming your amp in the rare case that happens. IMHO its better to replace a fuse for $1 than replace 100's of dollar in equipment.

Can i ask why your so intent on rear door speakers? the front door speakers and rear trunk speakers work perfect + a subwoofer adds a nice touch.

Nice, it's really coming together well I think. I'm currently low on funds so my build has come to a crawl. I'm working on getting a 15" in the trunk. I like your placement of the subwoofer, is it a 10" or 8"? The amp is under the seat? I personally has a bad experience with having the amp under the driver seat where someone spilled a drink that spashed into the amp.. -_-. Long story short my amps are always in the trunk now. I personally think its the safest, just a heads up though.
