fyi i'm fairly certain the pics for those two models are backwards.

good find derek. im looking to buy a new HU since mine is so old and skips like crap. the DEH-P9600MP is a nig possibility if i can find a little cheapre somewhere.

i'm not completely sure, but i would imagine its for strucural integrity and improved heat dissipation for extended power handling. but that's just a guess. i'm sure its also cosmetic.

Correct on all points. If done right (thats up in the air with pioneer) like high end home stereo (sky is the limit there) it can also serve as a psuedo ristrictive baffle to lower the "Q" so comprimising between free air/door/enclosed apps. I do finally like that DA car stereo companies are going slim instead of 3" deep midranges that fit nothing

excellent.

as far as pricing and sizing goes, i have no idea. i was just up late doing some research to see what goodies pioneer has in store for 04. i saw some pics of their amps, which i have to say i'm not thrilled with. they went back to the 02 case and just made it a satin black with blue led light. not terrible, but should have been the 03 redesigned.

man thats a really good price for the 8600. its brand new and its only 380. plus its premier. im totally getting this unit.
