Ok, i own an 03 Lancer and went to put in new speakers in the rear deck. They didnt fit. They said they were 61/2 - 63/4. So, I contacted a person who makes speaker brackets and got him to now make custom fit and nice looking speaker adapters so you can out a 6 1/2 speaker in the rear deck of an 03 Lancer. Im sure they will fit more years and probaly the Evo, and OZ editions also and for more years. Check them out if you want the only way to put in that nice set of speakers with a very nice clean look/install.

nice link. i wish there was more info on them. as an installer myself i was just going to make adapters out of mdf but if they are of decent quality, i'll just get these to save time. if you bought them, maybe you could tell us what they are made of (most likely abs plastic) and if they come in a pair for $7 or just one for $7 since that site doesn't list them. thanx

 

Yes, they are ABS and they come in a pair for $7. I got my set coming they should arrive any day now. When I get them I will actually post a pic of them installed. From what someone told me is that if you use an adapter that is thick, it will give the speaker a larger profile and the factory grille wont fit. These are supposed to allow everything to fit nicely.

 

I just ordered 1 set, if they work well I will order a set for the doors too.

 

i have 6 1/2 in my car and didnt need an adapter.. i dont think. didnt get charged for one.. dont think i saw one either.

 

Got mine today, best 9 bucks ive spent. Well worth it and ease of installation is....basically any idiot can do it.

but in the door panels, you have to take the back rubber boot off the back of the magnet for the window to clear...it's DAMNED close and my drivers side rubs with it on...i took it off and it's perfect...

 

man wish i saw this earlier! after fooling around for a bit we managed to get mine to fit. when i change them out i will order these! GREAT FIND!

 

lol, my buddy and i zip tied the speakers to the stock holes...so cheezy...good thing you posted, these are great, just ordered them. Same thing happened to my friend's celica and he was gunna pay some 25 bucks for them plus shipping...good deal 10 bucks shipped

 

Again nice find! Just ordered from them Thursday.....I bought 6/34 speaker but the don't fit
there is a bunch on air gaps arounf edge of speaker. I will post when I receive them shortly.

Damn... this thread was brought back. I have Polk 6 1/2 all around with no problem... I didn't get charged for brakets when I had them installed.
