Tweeter Location/Install Suggestions
Here's the deal. I used to own a set of Sony XPlod components, but the woofers were crappy and broke. I still have the crossovers, tweeters, and most of the installation hardware. My question is, where should I install these tweeters? The only mounting hardware I have are flush mount door pods that would require me to cut about a 1.5" hole in my door panel, which I really don't want to do. I have one of the screw-in style mounts that would only require me to put a few screw holes in, but unfortunately I don't have the second one.
Where should I mount them (not part of the poll, refers to location overall in the car)?

you should incorporate them into the door panel and if you ever decide to sell car and wnat to keep tweets, go to walmart and buy some cheap *** tweeters and put those in the hole. they dont even have to be hooked up as long as something is there.

Check out my profile to see where mine are. The triangular plastic pieces on the inside of the side mirror controls is ideal for stereo imaging. With a typical angled mount, the closer tweet will be slightly over passengers' inside shoulders, decreasing the apparent volume just enough to match the further tweet on the other side which is aimed directly. It's a very easy and discrete installation location.

A pillers man Get A-pillers with a tweeter cut out its in the perfect spot looks great and puts the tweeter a little higher. Much better than cuttin up your door and way less work than making custom fiberglass stuff.

The A-Pillars seem too far away for sound imaging to me. As for a how-to, you just mount the speaker where you want it and run the wire to it. In the case of mine, the crossover for my components was mounted inside my door panel, near where the speaker is. Then wiring the tweets wires up to the side mirror panel was a cinch.

A-pillers are closer than in the door where the rest of the speakers are... sides it looks way better thats how Evo's come stock (in the apiller) wouldn't look like a jerry rigged contraption.

I guess that's a matter of opinion how it looks. I built my system to look like it wasn't a sytem. Largely, someone looking at my car won't know those tweets weren't there when I bought the car. The A-Pillar ones would also look stock, but mine definitely don't look jerry-rigged.
As for sound, the a-pillars being further away isn't helpful. With tweets, you're dealing with high frequency sounds. They are very directional. The most important aspect of imaging with tweets is direction and aim. Distance can be considered next, but I find that distance isn't as important for tweets, like direction isn't as important for lows/mids.

I didn't mean to say your set up looks jerry rigged Ive never seen it so I wouldn't knock it. direction can be adjusted almost anywhere you put them and distance I think you misread what I said Apillers aren't farther away than the door speakers if anything they are closer than down where the door speakers are located assuming your ear is the referance point
