New E-manage install & dyno results

he guys, installed an emanage on the weekend and thought i'd share the results.

my car is a 2002 Lancer, 2.25" exhaust, stock cat, 3" RPW CAI, RPW 4-1 extractors, rising rate fpr, 4g93 intake manifold, 60mm oversized throttle body, phenolic intake manifold gasket.

I brought a Boomslang ECU harness w/ emanage main, ignition and injector harnesses, which worked a treat, literally just plug it in and start tuning.

we were using a hub dyno and my lancer clocked 113hp atw with no emanage tuning. then after about an hour messing with the emanage we ended up with 123.89hp

idle is an absolute biatch at the moment, it has stalled about 6 times in the last 2 days since it was done, we had no wiring diagram handy and did not know which wire we needed to cut to disable the o2 sensor so the car is a **** in closed loop mode.

we will be doing a more in-depth tune next saturday and will hopefully squeeze a few more ponies out of the car, we did no timing adjustments yet as i was running 91octane fuel, next weekend i will have 98 octane fuel in the tank.

I'll have more info and post the dyno graph next weekend and you can check it out.

later!

we were going for 13.5 afr, we did the best we could in an hour and a bit but have a lot of work to do next weekend to smoothing it out more.

next weekend we'll mess with the other emanage functions. timing etc.
and see what else we can squeeze out of it.

the RPW cam is on the horizon too. that will put a fire under the 4g94's ****.

david from RPW was doing the tuning. i'm pretty sure he said we shoot for 13.5
I'll double check the dyno graph i have at home tonight. and I'll get a print out of the afr's next weekend.

I'm in australia and i know the fuel is different here, would that mean i need to go a bit leaner than you guys?

I'll check with David and let you know what we did.

ok, checked it out with David.

the air/fuel ratio we are aiming for is:
15:1 for cruising
14.7:1 for idle
and between 13.0 - 13.5 at WOT

we were only tuning 'open loop' on the weekend as we had no wiring diagram handy to 'disable' the o2 sensor so we were shooting for between 13.0 and 13.5 afr.

I'll post the dyno chart tomorrow from last weekends efforts.

Hey mate, Shaun here. didnt realise you were on these forums.

It just goes to show you what a good tune can do. My car is currently of the road, having some work done to it, and hopefully should be able to lay down some decent power. After that, i'll re-assess the budget, and decide whether to tune the emanage, get the stage 2 camshaft and tune. Then i'll be chasing you for the hp title (even with 200cc less!) Are you going to be coming down to Drag Wars (and no, im not taking the **** for all you US guys )

RPW for the win~!

for anyone interested. here is the dyno graph from last weekend. we could not finish the tuning the emanage as i said before so go easy on me, as you can see there is alot of work to do. look at that torque curve?! my idle sucks too, it stalls almost everytime i stop at lights. WOT feels pretty good though.

this weekend it will all be fixed up and i'll post the new graph.

mods are: RPW headers, FSE rising rate fpr, 4g93 ported intake manifold, 60mm oversized throttle body, 3" RPW CAI, 2.25" exhaust, thermoblock intake manifold gasket.

hey Shaun, what work are you getting done?
stage 2 camshaft & valve springs will be my next mod also so you might still have some catching up to do

i'm going for 150hp atw before the end of this year.

well, we cut the o2 sensor wire and it fixed the idle a little, but on the dyno we still got some really weird readouts for the afr. so idle is not completely fixed, but everything else is smoothed out nicely.

i forgot to get a printout, so i'll ask david to get one for me. else, there is a dyno day on the 28th august, so i'll post that dyno chart here too.

we ended up with 125.9hp after some timing adjustments and a bit more tweaking to the map.

the car runs weet now.

You should be making more power if you didn't dyno with your 17's.

Example: put 18's on a stock SI . . . it's not going to every reach its peak benchmark from the factory.
