If you got a lot of money yeah it canbe done. The transmission would be one thing but u gotta remeber, if u gettin the engine from a evo or AWD Eclipse, it is AWD. Your car is not designed for all wheel drive. Cahngin out your drivetrain is going to cost a lot of money. Your might as well just go and put the money u were going to use the engine swap and hook up your car.

I've been told that the transmission bolt pattern for cars with the 4G63 and the FWD transmission is the same, but I don't have any direct information on it.

The swap will be expensive, but I do know of one guy with a Galant (FWD transmission) who has bolted up the Evo7 block to his transmission.

I think motor mounts and electrical would be your biggest hurdle, everything else is just going to involve beefing up the driveline to withstand the stresses of the turbo evo engine...

I am planning on a Evo engine and driveline swap into a 97 mirage DE 2 door coupe, and have done some of the research, but if you want the AWD setup too, expect to pay a premium for components, and then spend lots of time and money fitting everything up.

Anything CAN be done, you just have to determine if its worthwhile, in my case I have easy access to the components, and the "Work" portion of it is free (My time and expertise)

I couldn't imagine paying someone else to do the work, its just hours and hours of research and fabrication..

You could always do a search! The bolt patterns don't match either. Do a search this has been talked about since I have been a member of this forum, way before the RRM kit, Rpw, and anything else was created. Run a search man. You will quickly realize it is not worth the cost.

I wonder how hard it is to swap in a Eclipse GST motor into our car. Im sure it wouldnt cost as much as a full evo swap and the GST motor has 210-215 hp at the crank already.

here's a guy witha 89 Lancer/Mirage that dropped a 4g63 from an Eclipse and also the AWD, he also had to convert from Auto to Manual,
I know its not the same car/model year a what you are thinking but the guys said its pretty cheap to do... check it out and get some inspiration!
BTW, this guy did all this in his backyard.

Yeah I'm doing the same type of swap on a 97 Mirage..

Just so you are aware, the orientation of the Eclipse 4G63 is opposite to the EVO.. If you look at your engine bay, if the engine is toward the passenger side (the timing gear is on the passenger side of the car and the pullies are also on that side) Then the orientation of the EVO engine is best suited for the swap...

Although the Lancer tranny may not bolt up, you might be able to use a Galant tranny which apparently does... Like the previous poster said, this information is out there if you search for it. Most don't bother simply because of the expense or relative impracticality.
