300 Hp

You just have to be realistic. Spending all that money is necessary to get that gain but if you boost toooooo much you'll degfinately grenade the beast! Especially when it costs about 10k to do all this. I know that with a beefier conrod set/stronger valve springs, and of course more boost I would be on the way to better. But i blew the sucker twice with NOS and quite frankly i agree that the 4g94 is at it's limit cylinder wise. I went .020 over to boot. Now she runs great and cool but even the engineers at mitsubishi say .020 is the stretch. Though they make a .020 stock version... It is the last bit the engine gives without taking the chance?? When you pay 15K for the car, invest 10k to hop it like the evo(???) you still come in under than the price of the evo. Just got to be happy tinkering and getting it accomplished right

sry to bring this back from the dead but i did the grand tourismo style of crunching the numbers and here is what i cam up with and this is on the least generous side
intake 10hp (if no turbo) $150
entire exhaust 10hp $800
ecu 5hp $200-1000
fuel pressure & ignition sys 5 hp $300
cams 20hp $350
cam gear 2 hp $200
pistons $ 690
rods $ ?
valve springs $ 150
lets say thast 50 hp so far so we are now at umm 160
we can go 1 of 2 routs and so far thats over 3 grand
A. Turbo the most common 40 hp (i have yet to see any gain over that somone prove me wrong pleeassseeee i wanna go fast as much as anyone on here) $ 4000
B. QUAD TB least common they say 50-60% we will say 40% sooooo about 60 hp - if you already got a good enough ecu then its only 1000
route A yields at least 200 hp with prob some turbo lag and is
over 7000
route B yields at least 220 hp no lag! and is under 5000
you pick which one you want the problem is that our car can't boost for sh** and you might not need cams with a turbo i am not sure but thats only like 500 to exclude from the prices i estimated anyway the quad tb seems a different way and a better way to go to get some hp just my opinion somone reply if i messed anything up i htink i remembered everything but i am wrong a lot so correct me somone,
hobie check this to make sure it makes sense lol
edit: note i over-estimated prices and under-estimated hp

crower rods = $710
well i got 98 wheel hp gained so far with my turbo on the stock motor.
Also the quad tb might seem to give more power but your not thinking realistically. a quad tb is a very very difficuly thing to use on a car. sure it might be only $2,000 (quad tb + ecu) but it required extreamly intense tuning by an experienced professional which will cost you loads to get it tuned properly...but enough about the quads there is a seperate post for that.
for serious power the best way seems to go with a turbo + engine and head rebuild along with a full fuel and exhaust system. Then you can push upwards of about 20 psi of boost for a race and make approx 200 hp gain. there is your 300 mark.
