Yet another cai verses sri question.
I know this has been discussed like a million times around here, I actually used the search feature, but once again for my 05 Lancer ES, should I go with the sri, or the cai? I ask because every time I read a thread that says cai is better, I find one that says sri is better I want more torque on the lower end because I have noticed the car doesn't really pick up speed until around 3400rpm's, then it gets up and goes faster then before it reaches 3400rmp's, but I don't want to lose the high end either, or too much mpg. For guys that have used both, which is better, cai or sri? I drive mostly highway miles, but like the gusto in the city when needed too.

youll get better (but not by much) gains with CAI. the sri may be better only because it will not cause hydrolock. but then again not alot of CAI people experience that, but it has happened.

SRI is supposed to be better for 1/4 mile times.
When the car is moving air is circulating fast through the grill and is supposed to help with speed.
I've had both and am enjoying the RMR shortram. I don't have to worry about hydrolock anymore. Yes it was a concern. Not much difference in performance feel though.

Seeing you live in Ohio, and I live in Michigan, we live pretty close and have the same type weather. Go with the short ram intake. With our crappy weather and winters, the short ram will save you from getting all that snow/rain/dirt in the filter.

man, over stock, after I installed my SRI, I actually got better gas milage. 33city/42highway. As opposed to before of 27city/35highway. I'm also a little heavy on the gas. But now that I installed my RRM testpipe, the gas milage went down a bit. to about 28/37. But anyways thats off topic.

it all depends on what you like most and weather conditions. if you think that you can have more usable with the sri then go for it. me i have a cai and no problems so far except for one time i left my car in parking lot and it rained so hard that my filter was soaking wet. anyway if you would get the sri put or buy a heatshield
