The change your oil at 3K story is a myth perpetuated by the oil industry and they've even admitted it. In the late 70's or early 80's documents were "released" showing that industry leaders were trying to make as much money as they could- and motor oil has a decent profit margin. Their own tests showed that oil was effective for lubrication and removing deposits into the 7000 mile range.

mobil 1 is a great oil, but i highly doubt that it will run for 15,000mi/1 year. if your planning to run synthetic just use some other type of mobil 1, i hear royal purple is pretty good as well, im curently using quakerstate q advance which isnt bad. good luck with your choice and let us all know what you find out about that mobil 1
