Post idle issue not RRM piggyback, could be and most likely is...

soooooooo I've posted a few things in the last months about my car not functioning in winter very well(alot of regular post readers should recall)

if you didnt, ill bring u up 2 speed

basically what was happening was my car was idling like crap and the idle would hunt and more or less sometimes stall and wouldnt start back up for like 30sec of sitting there, also it was hesitating when i would step on it, it was almost like it was running soo rich that it would choke it self and the fact that it was soooo cold outside didnt help it at all.

Alot of ppl pin pointed it to the RRM Piggyback, I never thought the piggyback was a piece of **** nor thought RRM was crap, I jus more or less thought b/c of the elevation of where California is and where Alberta,CANADA is, and how it was getting sooooo cold up here and that it never gets cold there, that all that had something to do w/ it. Maybe it did, maybe it didnt, guess well find out in due time.

Soooooooo fast forwarding to the present, I put stock injectors back on and disconnected the piggyback and saw what happened...

SITUATION:

1. started the car up when the engine is cold and it starts, RPMs raise to about 1800rpm, comes down a lil, stutters a lil, RPMs drop to about almost a stall for about 45sec-1min and then RPMs raise to about 3000rpm and then car runs smooth like stock........WEIRD I KNOW

2. car will hunt for idle

3. car will run smooth, then u shut it off and start it back up and the the car will run like ****...

____________

so i thought it was the IAC(Idle Air Controller) and then the mechanic told me that he needs to think about it, so I went home to eat lunch and then he called me on my cell a hour later and was like "Hey I think I know what ur problem is" and im like "oh ya? whats that" ..... he responds, "your o2 sensor is broken"

so i went over there to see what he was talkin about and I took pics for all you to see...

so from what u guys read, u guys think if i replace this, it should run good again??

post ur comments

No place can get you a new o2 sensor? If that is the sensor in the manifold then i think you have found your problem.

You should be able to pick up a universal sensor that will splice into your stock wiring harness and should only run about 80usd

yea a broken O2 sensor would do that. your car is taking readings from that front O2 sensor to adjust fuel trim at idle, and if that is broken, its gonna run like crap.

Have you pulled the codes yet? I had a problem with my idle before so i pulled the code and it was a low voltage tps sensor, sure enough the tps wire connected to my emanage was loose.

Reset the ECU. Pull the battery cable. replace the cable. Start car and dont let it stall. Drive car for 15-20 min without letting RPM in one place for too long. Shut off car. Let sit for 5 min. Restart car. Should run better. I had the same problem with RRM Piggy and broken o2 sensor.
