valve cover gasket....
I am taking my valve cover off and painting it. I know generally your supposed to replace the valve cover gasket every time you take it off but I would have to order one. If you are careful can u get away with taking the valve cover off without breaking the gasket or do you HAVE to replace it?

The valve cover's correct torque setting is in in/lbs instead of ft/lbs. Too bad I can never remember the number. I totally destroyed a valve cover because I was too tired to read carefully once.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go ahead and try it. If it comes down to it I can always RTV it temporarily I guess... I don't think I'll have to worry too bad about the torque.... I already learned that lesson after I destroyed a pair of valve covers on my Charger.... LOL!

Good news, I got the valve cover off EASILY, and the gasket is perfectly fine! Only problem I had was I dropped 2 valve cover screws down into the engine bay and they were a royal pain in the neck to track down and retrieve. But she is officially Chrysler Industrial Red.... cheap paint I know, but it was the only bright red paint I could find that was actually heat resistant. It is drying right now and it looks G-O-O-D!

Yeah I noticed when I was taking it off that the valve cover screws were not even snug.... I mean like there was no breaking them loose, there was no work. In fact after I gave them all a half turn the ratchet wouldn't work. They really need to be that loose?!

By the way Rock I used ya'lls picture by picture guide for removing the valve cover. It came in quite handy! Appreciate it. I must say it was WAY easier then it looks.
