Burning off oil

I changed my oil today and half of what I had put in wasn't there...I never had smoke or anything coming from my exhaust, so it must have been minor. I change my oil everything 3,000-4,000 miles. I guess I'm going to take her into the dealership. It also sounds like I have a wheel bearing or something loose. What parts do I need to take off before going to the dealership? Right now I have the catback, testpipe, intake, and crank pulley on, and I just took the piggy back off.

Thanks

- Jaston

I checked for leaks. It couldn't find anything and there were never any signs of a leak. The time before this I changed my oil I was missing almost half, I had driven almost 6,000 miles on it, this time I was missing just over a fourth and I had been between 3,000 and 4,000 miles on it. I don't know if thats long enough to slowly burn it away, but I have never had any signs of burning oil, I only notice when I go to change the oil. But this time I'm definately going to the dealer.

You might have to get rid of the piggyback, intake, test pipe, crank pulley, or just find a mod friendly dealership.

I am gonna go out on a limb, Maybe, just maybe the oil filter you are using is a little bit bigger, the manufacturer might have changed the size, or you bought a different brand so that would make it look low because you put 4 quarts in but now it can hold 4.5 this is just speculation.

dude; after 6k you are bound to have lost some oil. change it and keep checking it regularly before you go taking everything off the car so a dealership will look at it.

Do you ever top-off the oil level during the 3-4k ? If not, the quarter of oil loss might just be reasonable...

Everything has an effect on how your oil breaks down.

brand of oil
weight of oil - 0w20 will burn faster than 5w30
weather conditions - I live in Arizona and its hot here
driver abuse - high rpm etc
highway mi or street mi
length of oil changes not just the mi, should be 3 months

If your engine is cold when you check your oil level, it will be lower than the actual warm level

Vehicle needs to be on level ground etc

I do oil changes at my work, probably 20 to 40 a day. (with others help)
