He is saying that because the 2.4 world engine was first placed in to a dodge vehicle, that he refers to it as a "Dodge" engine.

I don't see how I Was putting my foot in my mouth by saying that it doesn't make sense to put a 2.4L engine inside a Rally car because by the rules of rallying you can not have an engine larger than a 2.0. I said I am not an expert on old lancers because I'm not; and even if i had owned the past 9 Evolutions I would not call myself one.

I am not even arguing that the Ralliart had a 2.4 in it, I'm saying that it doesn't make any sense. Not that you are lying, just that it doesn't make sense to me.

Also, if it is the same 2.4L block as in the dodge caliber, it will most definitely get the same treatment as the 2.0L world engine did, and be completely changed by mitsubishi to suit their needs, making it a Mitsubishi motor, not a dodge.

This argument is senseless. Back on topic?

I haven't seen anything saying that the Lancer will get a 2.4L.

There actually is an engine code for a 2.4 DOHC MIVEC engine - I'm assuming based off the world engine - known as the 4b12.

Mitsu World Engine Wiki

Scroll down a tad, you'll see it listed.

The STi is 2.5L.... All cars from mitsu and subie are "Rally inspired", but by no means are they true rally cars...

When rallying, you need quick release parts... I've seen full clutches been changed under a few minutes on rally spec vechiles.... Try asking a mech to do that on a normal lancer.

Don't worry about people that *****... Everyone needs to say their something... I've been on the forums for a few years and only posted a couple hundred times... It's not quantity, it's quality. People forget that.

///

Anyways, how is the GTS lancer slower than the honda civic?.. I mean they don't have waddle shifting, wtf.

OK I am sorry DAVE i usually dont get so pumped up. I am a happy guy most of the time Its just all this speculation on the boards that is driving me nuts. As for the 4b12 the applications dont say anything about the Lancer but it is sitting in the outlander. I dont really care if they do a motor change in the 09 I have an 08 with the 4b11 and I dont think it would be good on my pocket book to trade in for a new motor and my old lady would most likely shoot me in my sleep if i did something like that or hell she might just put some rat poison in my corn pops.

I'm new to all of this, but I just bought my Lancer GTS 08, 5 speed bout 2 months ago, and had it to the track last night.

I ran a 16.5, at 84mph.

I think the cars pretty capable, but I got about 2 months of stick driving experience, and it was about 95 degrees out last night, so I think the car can run a few tenths faster.

Has anybody else tested their Lancer's at the track yet, possibly anybody with one of those RRM Short Ram Intakes?

I was surprised at this time...my 04 ES must have been in the 17's...

Also read that the 09 gets a 172hp motor instead of the 08's 152 rating. Guess I'll have to do some modifications afterall.

That's 4 seconds faster than the 02/03 model that had 120 stock HP... but according to this site: http://www.exoticcarsite.com/1-4_mile_calculator.htm

08 Lancer ES = ~4079 lbs. with 152 HP ... 1/4th time: 18.53 sec.
04/06 Lancer ES = ~3681 lbs. with 120 HP ... 1/4th time: 19.38 sec.
02/03 Lancer ES = ~3638 lbs. with 120 HP ... 1/4th time: 19.03 sec.

Practically no difference. HP raised but weight did too.

Being in the military I have access to some scales. I weighted my manual GTS just the other day. Came in at 3036 lbs.

Where did that site get 1000 extra pounds???!!! And whoever drove it to a 18.5 1/4 mile sucks at life and should do the world a favor and shot theirself.

Yeah they definitely have their weights WAYYYY off.

Good lord, my Family Tank Impala only tipped the scales at 3640, there's no way in hell that this tiny little car could POSSIBLY weigh near 2 tons.

The 2002-2003's were 2740 or less pounds in manual trim and ran the 1/4 mile in just over 17 secs at maybe a 17.3-17.4

Are there any manual/ non CVT owners that have gone to the track yet?

If you are doing 16.4 @ 84-86mph you are basically starting at the point where most NA built 02-03's were unable to pass.

This guy hit the track in a manual GTS. That gives two consistent numbers (16.3 and 16.5 plus 87 and 84), which is nice. I wish I could hit the track with my CVT to gauge the difference...
