Dual Muffler Theory..

Dual Muffler Theory..
I have a 2.5" Exhaust, cus I thought about Turboing in the future..
I have an HKS Carbon Ti Muffler (for sale.)
The Exhaust Tone is Sweeeet, BUT...
Its loud & I lose some back-pressure not being at 2.25".
I would love it if my car was as quiet as stock.. and I know thats partially
due to OEM piping being thicker, and aftermarket exhausts being louder in general.
So Im thinking.. For the time being while Im N/A, perhaps I should apply a second muffler (OEM type, but smaller) a bit after the Cat..?
Im wondering if that other muffler, can make up for the lost back-pressure,
due to the larger diameter piping; and if it will also quiet down the exhaust as well..?
When the car was stock, at an idle, I sometimes forgot it was even running.
Even while driving, it was so quiet. I dont think I could get "that" quiet, but probably significantly close. I only really wanna hear the Exhaust when I Rev High.
If it creates too much back-pressure on the otherhand, I figure I could just gut the Cat. maybe..
I've spoken to some pro-mechanics already, and they said it was a sound theory, and that I should test it out.
What do you guys think?

Honestly, I dont think its a good idea.
If you want quiet, switch it back to stock until you get the turbo. If going dual is going to be a temporary thing, why waste the effort to do it in the first place?

did you not pay attention to anything he said??? nowhere in there did he say he wanted to do anything like whats in that pic....
city. i could suggest a longer/bigger resonator. will help immensely with the sound as well as a little back pressure. could also suggest a silencer. would probably be your best bet as that will be the best for scavenging.

I'd install the silencer and try the resonator.
Or, if you really want to be as quiet as stock . . . (wait for it) . . . put the stock exhaust back on!
I guess I don't really get why you run an exhaust you're not happy with (and trying to sell). I'd just yank the thing off, clean it up, and put it up for sale in earnest.

^Agree with Doug, try a resonator. It would be silly to have two mufflers since that would probably increase your backpressure over OEM, cost quite a bit, and sound funny. Sure you could gut your cat, but then you have to deal with other problems associated with a gutted cat.

i had the same problem for a long ime....i couldent stand to b in my car for long periods of time b/c of the noise. all i did was buy a silencer that cut the end of my last muffler down to...i think but dont quote me....1 1/4. i know that sounds small but with the rest of the piping being 2 1/2 it wasn't bad. i actually gained back pressure causeing a little more power in the low end and made it stock quite when just idling but still had a good baffle to it when the RPM's got up there
jus my 2 cents take it for what it is worth
