Custom Lancer Intake

Custom Lancer Intake
So after doing a little reading I found someone who bought an intake off of ebay, a mazda 3 intake kit and modded it to work for the 2008 lancer.
I decided to do the same thing, first 5 inches of piping had to be cut off the main part of the intake kit, 2nd a "MAF Sensor adapter" had to be made. Basically the pre made maf sensor portion of the piping fits good but our sensor is about 1/8" longer so you need 1/8" spacing to allow the sensor to mount properly. After modding the intake to do this holes were drilled to mount the sensor and it was mounted.
All the original air filter parts were removed and the new intake kit was installed as shown in the photos. A mounting brace was made out of a "Saddle Threshold" that was 1 3/4" wide and1/8" wide. I basically bent it by hand until it followed the needed path.
The intake works great, sounds good and after driving 65mph on cruise on the highway i noticed an increase in mpg (1-2), (the true test will come when i drive 6 hours from Lubbock to San Antonio mid december) this was just something a noticed and not a big deal.
I know this intake is probably not as good as RRM or anything and I would love to be able to buy an RRM intake but im trying to finish my Electrical Engineering program (i got 6 classes left ! ) so this is the best for now...

I'm in the process of making a custom CAI but my only problem is the bracket for the MAF and how to make it or buy a bracket to attach to the pipe where the MAF sensor will fit. Also does anyone have an injen CAI that they can get the specs from it like Pipe diameter and such.

sorry to bring back a post fron the dead but does anyone have a link to the specific intake used. I looked at mazda 3 intakes and there looks to be a few variations...
