synthetic oil

getting back to the original posts question about gains. Gains is one thing, but its very important to understand that engine oil breaks down overtime excessive heat can further speed up the process. I am sure there is a oil that is engineered for peak performance but I am not certain if it would last that long. Personally I am skeptical about excessivly high HP claims.
but anything beyond that, its really hard to prove the claims.

Good to be skeptical and not be the Tail on the Donkey sometimes...
Claims are easily proven... ASTM Tests, Dyno Runs and Oil Analysis... and over 35 years experience for me.
Personally.... My work van has had the oil changed between 25,000 and 40,000 miles or 1 yr for most of it's 345,000 very abused miles and has never had any internal repairs, not even fuel injectors. I do use AMSOIL P.I. for the fuel treatment Religously as well...

Dyno runs can be misleading though, simply changing the oil with new oil might increase power regardless of the quality of oil going in. The same applies to spark plugs, a lot of manufacturer's claim proven gains but often times it turns out to be wrong.

I understand that...
We have done back to back Dyno runs many times doing nothing more than changing oils with positive results time and again...
We also do ASTM Testing, Oil Analysis and Field Tests...

engine oil loss shouldnt be enough for you to feel it. at best I think a dyno may show it.
not to doubt you, but unless there is something wrong with your engine or perhaps a an installed mod, you shouldnt be able to feel the difference.
If your confident and you feel the diff. take it in to the dealer and give it a once over. If you drive your car everyday for a long time, you are the best person to see if there is a change in the handling. A friend of mine caught his transmission about to fail but didnt put it together. Before long the check engine light showed up, code reported back a hydrolic failure of somekind. Its just an example.
Engine oil, dont think so. but its entirely possible if it was done by a dealership that they didnt top it up, or they over filled it. lol I went to a Penzoil once, and you wouldnt beleive what happend. About 2 years ago this shop did the unthinkable, They overfilled my engine with 7L of fluid, and drained my Transmission.
that deserves a

I will agree that a "Seat of The Pants" Dyno is not any way to judge "Performance" .
I have heard that more than once and the reference was Mobil oil...
As mentioned, you may feel it it if it was overfilled... It would be the same effect that is happening with the Dry Sump on my MotorCycle right now. The Pump is not keeping up with the oil flow at higher RPM so the Crank is fighting the resistance of the oil.
In my case, it is noticeable as it is costing me almost 20 HP..

im not big on engines,to be honest i dont know **** about em really, but i drive my car everyday,so the littlest thing i will notice, and for some reason when i switched to the moble 1 for a couple days it felt slower then normal,i dont know what would cause it,if it was the oil or not, thats why i posted in here, all i know is what i felt, but it went away after a couple days,so who knows

You are not the first to say this although I can't understand how and the others were with Mobil 1 also...
One of lifes little quirks..

Ouch !!!!!
Do it yourself and you could almost change it twice with AMSOIL...

the first oil change I did on my car was at a oil change place. They wanted $90 for it. I said screw that, stick the dino oil in there. I know I can buy the amount of Mobil 1 I need to change the oil in the car for a hell of a lot cheaper than they were wanting to charge me.
The only reason I didn't change the oil myself is because I didn't want to haul used oil around in my car.

yea i couldnt figure it out,cuz usually when i change the oil it feels a little peppier cuz of the fresh oil,i was real surprised with the moble one,i thought it was cuz of the change from reg to synthetic, but what the hell do i know lol
