Ok.........Found out the problem, and so far so good. I realized this with my vesion 1 intake too, but never understood why my ses went away untill now. The reason (i belive) that we all get the ses, is because the angle of the END of the intake, with the filter on it. To me, I belive that it is at a wierd angle, that the air does not hit the MAF correctly, or fully, thus throwing a LEAN code. My fix was, I just pushed the FILTER deeper into the pipe, BUT NOT ALLLLL THE WAY

BUTTT NOTTT ALLL THE WAYYYY, and this allows the air to travel better to the MAF, thus ridding of the SES light. Be aware, the further back you push your filter, the less air it might collect, but it should still be good, b.c air is collected from all angles of the cone.

I will make a topic about this, and see if every1 else can get rid of this SES the same way, with any version of the pipe. Leme know if this works for you. I let fujita know too, so if you call them, they might ask you to try this

I did a fix on mine and it worked for over 1200 miles now , and i dont think it has anything to do with that theory

If you would all take a deep look at the fujita Sri you would all notice , i did since i first installed it knowing something was wrong with that .

Im not sure how the hell its fixed, or why it does what it does, but i still havent had the light come on and it seems to be running alot more up to par than it used to be, so for the time being im happy with it. I just wish some day someone figures it out, never knew of a cars intake to be so sensitive

oh my fix was a little different its a plastic / metal insert that forces the air to hit the MAF in a different way.

I called them today to relay all these questions / concerns / complaints about the Fujita SRI. Mine hasn't thrown a CEL yet (knock on wood), so I gave them a call and told them I'm having the CEL problem. I'm not sure if they were lying, but they told me it this is the 1st time they heard of a complaint about the intake. So they asked me to take pictures and send it to them (I guess he wants to know if I have the 1st or 2nd version). So I did take pics and send it to him. He gave me a call after 5 minutes and saying that I have the old intake (2nd version). And he said that the new intakes are coming in a couple of weeks and they would send it to me for free.

He said the new intakes have the regular size pipe (like the one from the 2nd version) from the filter and as it goes down to the part where the MAF sensor is, the pipe becomes smaller/thinner (or something like that), then just past the where the sensor is, it goes back to the regular size of the pipe which then goes into the engine. He also said the Fujita big boss is out of the country right now and in China (I think he said China, but somewhere in Asia for sure) and is finalizing everything before they start shipping the new pipes to North America.

So back to me complaining, he said this is the 1st complaint they got (prolly he was talking about a complain about the 2nd version). He told me they received calls before about the intake throwing a CEL and asked them to take a picture of and send it back to them. Unfortunately none of those guys who complained actually took pics and again I was the first one to comply. So technically, I am the only one on the list right now who's gonna receive the new pipes which comes out (as per Odus from Fujita - not sure about the spelling of the name) in a few weeks, most likely by the end of May. He'll be keeping me posted every week thru phone and email about any updates about the shipment.

I also told him that a lotta people have concerns about their product. He said it would be awesome if ya'll would be able to address all your concerns. Ya'll can call him @ 1-951-834-9293 and look for Odus or Odes (again not sure about the spelling of the name).

To Evo_soul:
honestly, if it can be done, you should go down there and help these guys figure out the problem with these intakes since you know the 08+ Lancers very well. I'm not saying that the guys @ Fujita doesn't know what they're doing (and I know a lotta people will bash me because of this), but what I'm trying to say is they really aren't exclusively making intakes for Lancers and any input from someone who actually knows the vehicle and the problems it's having with these intakes would not only help them, but the Lancer owners as well.

And as for me, I'm goin' downstairs to get somethin' to eat. Typing all these made me hungry! lolz

Even though Fujita has had a string of bad luck with this paticular intake... it should be noted that they have made efforts to correct it. And if any company is willing to address the issue they should get a pat on the back for it. And I and everyone is eager to see what the third version of the intake will yield. I think because a lot of time has gone by I am sure they are possibly changing / tweaking the design.

I dont want to assume to much. And I dont want to make it sounds like I know more than they do. I had a friend who had the intake and had experience designing them, we chatted for a bit and we exchanged ideas and came up with a small fix. It removed the CEL but it will take much more data to see if it is a true fix.

When it gets released everyone will post their experiences and we will see how successful they will be Third times a charm

^hear! hear!
fingers crossed!

I gotta a question tho, for those users whose CEL already came off and they tried to reset the ECU just so it would go away, would you advise for them to remove the intake and put back the stock instead? do you think it would have an effect on the engine or performance of the vehicle in the long run if they decided to keep the intake installed and just reset the ECU whenever the CEL comes off?
just wonderin'..
