Lightbulb 6A1X / 6G7X Engine Swaps

Was doing alil research on the 6A1X motors and i find 6A13 comes Twin Turbo. Wonder how hard is it to put one of these in the Lancer? Says they came out of 1996–2003 Mitsubishi Galant/Legnum VR-4 http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/.../1996_8/19627/ and I also found a 6G72 which comes on the 3000GT's and its also Twin Turbohttp://www.jdmenginesamurai.com/engi...ngine_6g72.htm So how hard would it be to get your hands on one of these pieces of art. How hard would it be to swap one of these into a 03 Lancer?

You're asking about something that has NEVER been done before. So you're not going to get a good response either way.

I can tell you how they fit in Mirages, but that doesnt necessarily translate to Lancers.

That is a 6A12 MIVEC in a Mirage ... small pic but there is hardly any room to do anything. The 6A13TT gave similar problems .... the Miragers / Colt guys that I know who did it went to a single turbo setup because the twin turbo setup caused space issues (wasn't enough room). As for the 6G72TT, allegedly, there is someone in Puerto Rico that did this swap, but they are so cryptic with mods that I cant tell you for sure.

As for 6Axx motors, they are very very rare, but there are a few stateside and a few owners willing to sell. 6G72 would be more readily accessible but almost as rare. Fitment now would be a PITA. There would be plenty of other options for swaps that would be cheaper / easier / more easily accessible for parts than either of those swaps.

yea i figured the block was too long and might have clearance issues but i would love to see one of these in a lancer.

Not necessarily the block ... just the entire width of the motor in the engine bay. My cousin was telling me recently that his water pump went and it looks like he might have to drop the motor to replace it .
