Engine rebuild kits?

Hey all. Heres where the problem starts. My engine all of a suddenly started chewing up oil out of nowhere. It had been fine till one day, 1500 miles after an oil change, I was 2 quarts low. Ouch! So long story short, my car burns oil now. Its only when I start it up first thing in the morning. I talked to a good friend mechanic and he told me he is pretty much positive that I've scarred my valves, and probably taken out my rod bearings also. He said it should be a slight metallic vibrating sound which there is one now. So to get to my question, do they make any sort of engine rebuild kits or is there any way I can order all the parts I need to get this done without taking it to a mechanic and possibly cheaply? All I want is a new valve set, ring set, head gasket, oil pan gasket, main and rod bearings set. I've already got a timing belt and water pump all ready to go. I've searched all over the place and am having a hell of a time finding some of this stuff online, specifically ring sets, valve sets, and bearing sets. Im not specifically looking for aftermarket but do prefer it. The engine just clicked over 140k. Also, do they make a manual for our cars other than the 150 dollar one that mitsubishi sells? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

this isnt really what you asked. but motor swap..(if u can DIY, would be 100x cheaper then a bunch of mitsubishi replacements parts for an old head)
my motor cost me 300.. and about 30$ in new fluids when i swapped everything.. and it runs alot better now then it did before.

Well actually I was just thinking about just trying to buy a complete head. I can't find an engine for that cheap (cheapest around here was 900 bucks. ouch.) but Im finding heads for like 200 bucks but dont know if they are complete so that may be the way to go. Someone just suggested to me also to just have the valves resurfaced? or reworked? whatever to get the surface smooth again. I dont know if thats possible but it sounds cheap. I can DIY most of this project but I need to get a service manual for it. They don't have a chilton or haynes out for the damn thing yet and I dont wanna spend 150 at the stealership. I plan on just ripping the whole motor this summer and rebuilding it. Im on a budget though cause I just got laid off so Im doing this as cheaply as I can without sacrificing quality. Like I bought a gates timing belt and plan on getting other quality parts. Time isnt really an issue cause i just got my rocket put back together so i have other transportation. as long as i can get it done in a week then everything should go well. My budget is in the range of 500 bucks right now. Rings should be cheap and so should gaskets but the valves is what concerns me. Bearings are usually relatively inexpensive too. Maybe ill have to run down to the local autoparts store and see what they got (i hate doing that cause they are a massive ripoff.). Thanks for the suggestion. Keep em coming.

I just checked on car-parts.com and found engines for about $350. You may need to drive, but even if it's a couple of hours your saving yourself headaches and money.

well your about halfway there for my area. motors around here are 700 bucks at least. car-part.com may have motors for cheap but they aren't anywhere around where I live. I found a whole mirage head on there though for 140 shipped so ima do that since the cam in there is ever so slightly more aggressive than our stock one. I've already ordered an adjustable cam gear, gates timing belt kit, and an underdrive pulley. Along with my other mods and a good tune, I should be able to get some decent top end outta the beast. All I care about is having enough horse to support my giant @$$ exhaust system. Hopefully I can get close. Anyways thanks for all the help from you guys. This is the cheapest route I've found. And I get an excuse to buy some extra mods.
