easiest fix for you get a Lancer evolution 8 ecu swap it in , disable the imobilizer , and disable all emission systems and do away with all those little vacume hoses and egr system all together...

I had a p0401 code being thrown about a year back. My EGR valve was pretty clogged with carbon buildup. Replaced it with a new one and code went away. Give that a shot.

Can you just clean it out or would it need to be replaced?
