Cat-back/axle-back?

Which would be the best to go for? I really like the HKS hi power axle back thats made for these lancers, but its pretty $$$. I really like how it looks too. Would a cat back give me more of a performance increase?

This topic is been covered for years now. All i have to say is go for Cat-back Exhaust. If you just wanted sound and looks go for axle-back.

Mitsubishi already designed decent piping for the lancer. Its not as bad as the average OEM piping. The design of the muffler is where performance suffers for our car the most. upgrading your axleback will add performance, BUT.... and this is key, different factors such as Engine displacement (2.0L or 2.4L), muffler pipe sizing, and design style will have different impacts on performance.

The Full exhaust cat back option is ok, but your not gaining much more power with a full Cat. Your better bet is to upgrade the header and axleback vs. Catback. more TQ units to be gain this way.

Thank you that pretty much perfectly answers my question. I thought our oem piping was pretty straight, and my worry was loosing power on the low end because of lack of back presure

very few exhausts result in a loss for our car. generally would happen on the 2.0L
But because the 2.4L has more volume pushed thru the same system, its pretty hard to fail with that one
