Intake and Exhaust Questions
Hi, I have a 2010 Lancer GTS with a CVT transmission and it's absolutely bone stock. I'm currently looking at the following items for my car:
http://stores.speedcorps.com/-strse-...cer/Detail.bok
http://www.autocityimports.com/2008-...st-p-8321.html
I've been told by the dealer that neither of these performance upgrades will void my warranty which is my main concern.
But now on to my main concern. I've been told by the guy that sold me the car at the dealer that if I purchased that exhaust it would hurt me more than it would help since the GTS is n/a it will lose a ton of back pressure. Others however have told me that the stock exhaust is too restrictive and in the end it would help to have the exhaust along with intake and that I would gain some but not a major amount of power. So that's my main question. Is it worth spending almost another $500 on the Greddy Spectrum Elite Exhaust to gain the sound I want and hopefully a tad bit more power?
Thanks

Purchase the Greddy SE
The stock muffler is both heavy and restrictive. Luckily our exhaust piping is pretty straight and efficient so that's why you see a lot of companies only offer an axle-back version. At most you gain a couple of ponies, but for the look/sound/enjoyment you'll receive it's worth it
And on a side note, with my Injen exhaust/Injen CAI I'm averaging 35mpg with mixed driving.

Save money and buy the SRI, it has the potential to be the highest power yielding Short ram available using the MR technology. But there are new intakes coming this fall from what I know. But for the money, the SRI is a pretty good deal. I have the traditional CAI and love it. I like it also because of the low sound level compared to the in your face SRI

I just installed the Injen SRI and its awesome. GripMotorSports has it for cheaper. I'm close to getting the Greddy SE as well. I think the guy at the dealer doesn't know what he is talking about though. Oh, and the Greddy is alot cheaper to at GripMotorSports.com

I installed a KN Dropin filter. I was thinking of attaching the filter somehow and leaving it open instead of closing it in stock box. Then I thought of removing the detachable piece between the scoop and the stock box. I may sound crazy but I noticed a difference. It got rid of the little bit of lag I felt and the engine sounds mean. Anyone who is still stock can you test this to see if I've lost my mind. Oh I also have an exhaust. In pic is the piece I removed. I figured if I left the scoop cooler air that comes through may cool air in that area so stock box isn't just pulling in all hot air. Does this sound newbie?

-10 I know how hot air affects the engine, Mr. Einstein. (voice of caveman)"Hot air bad, cold air good." What I meant was if hot air is so bad why even bother with an open air intake system if its just gonna suck in hot air bad. Everybody might as well stay stock then. If you was not gonna bother then why even respond, M@vedik.
