Proper way to clean EGR and ISC?

I have a few question, When I seem to sit at a drive thru, or a red light, at times my car will idle real high around the 1500-2000 rpm. I have a 2002 oz lancer with 108,000 miles. At times a code will read EGR and then for a few days it will go off. I'm going to clean my EGR, but somewhere here I read about an ISC. How would I go about cleaning that? And would it be best to take off my EGR and clean it or leave it on? I'm not the most car savvy person our there. Thanks

Take the EGR off and clean it its pretty simple two bolts and a vacuum line. Spray some good cleaner in there and use toothbruch or pipe cleaner little brushes and clean it out. Just did mine about 2 months ago and have not had the code pop back up since.
