Burning Oil

Burning Oil
So my car is now 206,000 miles old. When I got my oil changed most recently, it was 100% full to the correct amount. I decided to check it out of habit and I notice that it is barely covering the dip stick. It had lost over 1.3 quarts of oil in perhaps only 1,200 miles. I don't see any obvious signs of oil leakage and tonight, I am going to place a cardboard box under my motor tonight to see if anything is leaking. Even if it is leaking, that seems like an excessive amount for it to leak.
I changed the oil every 3,000 miles since I got it just over a year ago at 152,000 and it's always burned oil. But it hasn't burned nearly as much oil before as it has in the past.
I may need to change my spark plugs since I seafoamed it, but that shouldn't cause for oil to burn away. Not sure. Help??

Let us know what you find tonight if your leaking or not. If not then it could be leaky valve seals causing excess burning oil, mitsubishis are notorious for leaky valve seals. The seafoam may have caused some seals that were getting weak to fail a little more. Its either leaking, burning, or both. You can check around the valve cover, transmission bellhousing, timing belt area for oil buildup.

I will let you know. I do notice that everytime I change the oil, there is a very thin build up of oily dust that you can wipe off with your finger, which suggests at least a slow leak. The same applies around the valve cover gasket. So if A is true, then it's fairly obvious on what needs to be done.
But if all the gaskets are in ok condition, then what is to be done to repair the leaky valve seals?

$200 to have the valve seals redone? How are you figuring it to be that cheap? I would expect that to be more like a $500 procedure. I don't know how to do it myself. :/

Damn. Yeah I can do basic maintinence on my car, but that's a little in depth for me. At this rate, I might as well upgrade to an 05 or 06 Lancer Evo VIII MR FQ320. I've been eyeing that baby for awhile now.
