Question Going form high mileage engine oil to full synthetic

Bought my 02 lancer oz rally about last year around august been using high mileage engine oil. Just hit 160k on the dash and next oil change im thinking of switching to full synthetic. I have no idea what the previous owner as used in it before so im wondering if he has used just normal conventional oil and I switch to synthetic now will my engine end up leaking oil. Has anyone ever switched to synthetic at such high mileage and has had no problem?

yup 03lances has been at 15/spike 16 i think for 2 years now. no real problems motor wise....tires on the other hand haha....Daily driver for both of us. All in the tune for how much boost can run stock. English Racing felt they could go higher but since its my DD i wanted a safe tune over high numbers.

Synthetic oil really shouldn't cause problems. If you think the synthetic is going to reveal another problem you may have then that's another issue you might want to get taken care of. Otherwise if the oil has been being changed like it should you won't have problems.

lol nah man, you won't have any problems switching regardless of the miles. I remember my first car was a toyota corolla with 272,000 miles. I started to put full synthetic on it, felt the car wayy smoother. It went around 3-4k before I had to change it.

typically i run fully synthetic in any used car i buy unless it specifies not to. the reason i run synthetic is of course it's better, and you shouldn't switch back to regular oil if you were running synthetic, and typically you don't know what was ran previously. so i play it safe and go with synthetic

i heard its better to use half synthetic oil for at least 2 oil changes before switching to full synthetic makes it better for the engine. correct me if im wrong, im trying to go synthetic as well on my 04 lancer oz as soon as it comes out of the mechanic shop
