If anyone has complete repair instructions, that would be great. I'm more than comfortable doing the repair, but I'd like to have proper directions.

It's seriously 1 or 2 bolts and a wire clip.

Where is a good place to get the part (Advance Auto Parts doesn't have it; they recommended the dealer)

Thanks, I appreciate it greatly
Yeah, you can always order the part through the stealership. They should sell it to you outright.

For the Mirage, it was just one bolt... unsure of the Lancer.

Two questions:
Is driving with this problem until I can get it fixed likely to cause any further damage?

What exactly is involved in replacing the part?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I dont know if it was because of the problem, or jsut hell in a handbasket all at once, but when mine took a dump on me, I ended up with a bad MAS sensor, and my timing was all over the place and the car actually started running on only 2 cylinders sporadically. That, and it finally died at the side of the street one day.

This is probably a stealership-only item. I have a working one at home, brand new, that I thought was the problem with my car when it wouldnt start so I opened it, installed it and took it out about 35 seconds later. If we can cross-reference the part numbers and they are the same, I can sell you mine for cheap.

It's the same. I have one in my garage too.

EDIT: I take that back. It may be different after all. It's about $50 from mitsubishiparts.com though. Oddly the Mirage one is cheaper (which is why I say they may be different).

I think you should go to Autozone or pepboys, they can help you pull the code and clear it for free, if it don't come back, I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if your car is running fine. My evo throws those 335 and 340 codes once in awhile. Hope this can save you some $$$.
