Converting AEM CAI to SRI; Possible???
In a recent post i told that i ordered an AEM CAI w/o knowing that the AT would be in the way of the CAI. I know that you can remove the battery and bend the pipe, but that seems like to much trouble for the slight performance gains a CAI has over SRI. My question is can you convert AEM CAI to SRI by only using one piece of the pipe?

In theory it should work. If you place the MAF sensor at the one end of the shorter pipe and the filter at the other. Or perhaps you could get the sensor right after the filter. You'd have to experiment. But there is no reason it shouldn't work unless the pipe isn't long enough. You can always try. Good luck!

Yes, Im pretty sure its possible to convert the AEM CAI to SRI. The AEM intake looks like the picture below.
Take the small tube and attach it to the Throttle body like normal. Then attach the tube to the MAF sensor using the coupling supplied. After that attach the adapter plate to the MAF. This is where the SRI differs from the CAI. Instead of attaching the longer tube to the adapter plate, attach the filter directly to the plate using a coupling. The filter should fit perfectly on to the adapter.
The only reason I could see why this wouldnt work is if the smaller pipe doesnt have enough clearance from the engine block to fit the filter.
