Mivec Head Swap

Mivec Head Swap
I wonder if its possable to do a head swap from the 04 lancer with the MIVEC onto the 01-03 lancers. Which problems would i have or can i just get the MIVEC without doing a head swap. For those that dont know what MIVEC is, Its exactly like V-Tec(HONDA).

You can't. They are two completely different engines. The '04 MIVEC from the Ralliart is a 4G69 engine, essentially a bored out, naturally aspirated version of the Evo's engine. The non-Ralliart Lancers all use 4G94 engines. The 9-series is a completely different engine from the 6-series.

The old Eclipses used the same engine types as the current Evo and Ralliart. The new ones, I have no idea, but I'm guessing you're still gonna be out of luck. There have been a few threads about getting a better head for our Lancers, and I think in Thailand they made a few 4G93 DOHC engines, but they are so hard to come by, especially just to get the head and ECU, that it's unrealistic to get one here. And still, that's not MIVEC, just DOHC.

To further expand, I doubt either stock ECU would run the car reliably. The variations in displacement and therefore likely also fuel mapping would probably cause serious issues. IMO, if you have your heart set on a MIVEC engine, take the whole thing. And if you're so interested in that you'd probably be better trading in your non-MIVEC for a Ralliart. Just my $0.02.
