no modifications are required. its all bolt on. well... if you have a 5 speed transmission. if its an automatic, technically speaking only short rams are available to bolt on. you "can" customize a cold air, if your up to it.

I've been doing some research on this SRI and could find only good things. For the price, you can't beat it, except if you when with the ebay special. I'm getting ready to order one for those days when I don't want the CAI on my car.

^basically any type of aftermarket modification will void a warranty. you should double check with your dealer though. some dealers are pretty cool about a air intake and exhaust. my buddy's dealer dosent care if you modify those 2 things. now a header is a different story since your removing the 1st cat, technically speaking. ask around....someone should be able to help.

When I went to get the recall taken care of, I asked the service techs about the CAI and the told me it goes buy dealer. The Mitsu dealer in Pensacola said it won't void the warranty if I could provide proof it was professionally installed. Which I had a buddy at Pep Boys write me a receipt for installation. Ask the actual service techs at your local dealer not the people who work the desk in service.

thanks! i wonder if a high school auto shop teacher wit ha mechanics credential is considered professional...im going to have him do it even tho im not in high school...or at least he can write me a letter saying he installed it.

That would probably be a gray area. It probably would be more beneficial to find an accredited shop to do it. If your local performance shop is cool they might do it for you.

First thing is to find out if this intake is CARB exempt. My AEM CAI has a tacked on badge that has the executive order number and says CARB exempt. The people who make this intake is AI Racing, and the only site I could find is their Japan site. If you give Street Styler a call or email them, they should be able to tell you if its CARB or not.

Just got the email from Dark force guys. and i quote:
"No it comes with the Carb Legal Certificate. Just keep it in your glove box if anyone tries to give you sh** about it."
The intake is good to go in cali. i'll write up a review after i get / install it.
