Quick and easy project!!!
I wasn't sure where to put this so if you could move it for me if it is in the wrong spot that would be great!!! I was talking to a friend that has a GST Eclipse. He was telling me about a screw that is located in the MAS sensor box. If you look on the very bottom of the MAS sensor box there is a piece of silicone as well as a little plastic circle. So what he told me to do was this.....
1) Locate the MAS sensor box.
2) Take off the mas sensor
3) Find the silicone plug as well as the ring that is around it
4) Take a screwdriver and remove all of the silicone that is present in the ring
5) Look through the MAS sensor box and look at the bottom of the unit
6) Take a (+) head screwdriver and unscrew the plastic screw. The reason why i told you to look through the MAS sensor box is so that you can watch it go down and and vanish into the outercasing of the unit.
7) Put the MAS sensor back into car as well as the cold air intake or stock intake(whatever you have).
What this is supposed to do is increase the amount of air that is able to go into the engine. You can actually see the difference when you unscrew it. The plastic screw acts as a resistor to air. But making the screw vanish, it of course increase the amount of air that can enter the intake. Now, I don't know if there is a huge power increase or not(I was able to tell a slight difference in the noise of my short ram air intake, but in theory it should help with power, even though it couldn't be much) but hey, every little bit helps right? He was telling me that they have been doing this mod for years on the Eclipse without any problems or check engine lights comming on. This is the first time that I have heard of this being done and I have searched this board for this mod as well for any information. If I left out any major steps, tell me and i will add it to the list above. Good Luck!

When I read about this previously (RRE's website, I believe), it was said that there should be serious caution when doing this. Just remember - too lean and you can melt internals, etc.
So good luck, buddy.

it doesn't hurt. it definately doesn't change any sensor readings enough for any kind of caution. but it also doesn't do much either. it was one of the first things i did when i got the OZ.

This is just a freebie mod that most DSM'ers would done. It doesn't really do much. Hell, it's better than the ebay electronic tricking device for the MAF or those electric turbos.
Remember it takes a lot to punish/melt NA parts from too lean condition. It has to be long term neglect.
