super light weight, like 270 hp, AWD
AWD + Super light weight? Not completely possible. The Pulsar GTi-R and Mazda 323GTR came close, but not quite. They were definitely lighter than an Evo, but still weighed a bit, and were blemished by some understeer.

What I have heard is that the new Neon will be a 4 door hatch. It may also come as a Sedan. Chrysler is currently trying to ditch Mitsubishi. So the thought that a SRT-4 will be a rebaged Evo or vise-verse is basicly unrealistic I think at this point. Notice how the Evo IX is basicly a Evo MR (from what I hear). I don't think anyone is wondering what the next Evo will be in Mitsubishi, more like, will there be a Mitsubishi in the next 5-7 years?

Undoubtably the SRT-4 will continue to be a performance leader. Cheap and fast. I'm sure it will remain roughly 250hp FWD, that is part of the reason the car is so ripping fast, simple and cheap. AWD systems add wieght, cost and rob horse power, just ask the WRX.

I would expect to see the same set up we see now in the SRT-4. As for a Lancer being so much better then a Neon. Neon out powers a Lancer, goes faster, gets better gasmileage and has three engines to choose from. Not to mention its cheaper and has better resale* (when considering true purchase price and resale value).

Neons fall apart easy. Everybody's Neon around my area has the paint falling off or is already rusted out. The interior feels like cheap 35cent plastic.

there engines also sound like CRAP! i test drove one when i was buying my lancer. wow am i glad i got my lancer. this neon had under 25k miles and the engine sounded horrible. the sales man said its because the car has been sitting in the lot all day and while we were driving he turns up the strereo lol. when i test drove my lancer we did it when no music on and windows rolled up. not one bad sound

Not all engines are created equal. The 130hp base SOHC Neon engine has a lot of "slap" but is sturdy and decent on gas. When mated to the old bullet-proof 3spd auto (up till 02) it gets about 24mpg. The nicer Neon engine is the R/T with the Magnum head. 150hp and it sounds great with a nice cat-back. Neons also has an excellent update for 2003, which put in a much nicer interior witha 3-spoke wheel.

oh well there ugly LOL. well i dont know..i've seen a few srt-4's that look pretty damn good. but i can think of more lancers that look better than neons. out of every 10 lancers i see half of them are tricked out.....neons on the other hand...maybe 1 in 10 may have nice rims and tint on them thas it lol. but then agen maybe there not really street racing cars, besdies the srt-4 at least.

i hope you are joking about that... the neon has the worst deprecation value of probably any car on the road... you know how cheap srt4s are once they are used? if chrysler had any true sense... they would have killed the neon name when the srt4 droped... it would have done much better and it would of had some kind of resale value

I do. Search Autotrader or Ebay. A used SRT-4 goes for between 16-18k. That isnt really that bad. Another wonderful thing about resale is "rebates". Neons and Lancers around here go for the same amount of money. Roughly 10k for a 1 year old 26k mile car. The problem is the Neon new is 16k (SXT package) and the Lancer is about 16k as well (ES). However the Neon will normaly have a 3,500 rebate while the Lancer may have around 1-2k rebate. End result "true value loss", you paid less for your Neon and your getting roughly the same.

To me, and many other people (like the majority of the market), there is little difference in the Lancer and Neon, both compete for dead last in the compact sedan market.

Check out Edmunds.
Neon SXT

Average Sale price $13,861 after rebates

Lancer es

Average Sale price $13,942

Golf 2.0 GL

Average Sale Price $17,231

NADA

2004 Lancer ES $11,700
2004 Neon SXT $10,625
2004 Golf GL $16,215

Thus,
Lancer holds 84&
Neon holds 77%
Gof owns at 94%
Please also remember that after July Dodge alwasy offers $3,500 rebates which if you wait this means resale will be 82%, nearly identical to the Lancers.

Please use factual information to support your arguments. Cause I just saw a R/T go for like $39 billion dollars!
