How bad is the Evo VII interior?
I've seen discussions that the interior of the Evo VII is not that great. So what is really not that great specifically?
My brother drives a WRX and the interior is ok. The seats are great but the plastic on the console is very cheap feeling. The carpets look like they came off of an outdoor deck. The doors are so light they feel like they might fly off if pushed open too hard.
I currently drive a 2000 328i. I know the Evo won't be able to compare on the quality of the interior but am I going back to the dark ages? I don't need plush but I also don't want to be afraid of breaking things because it is so cheap.
Thanks,
Bill

That picture does make it look good, especially those front seats! It's tough to get a feeling of quality from a picture though. I just wanted to get some opinions because of comments I have seen others make.

It all depends on your priorities for buying a car, personally I think the interior of my 6 is superb, excellent supportive seats, a great seat to steering wheel to pedal position (ergonomic in an evo way) pedals well positioned for heel and toe, etc. etc.
If it doesn't affect the driving experience, I'm not too bothered really.
The only critisism I have is the lack of gauges for engine info such as boost, oil temp and pressure. These can be added with aftermarket items but it is hard to find a good position for mounting them so they can be easily read.
The quality of the EVO VII interior is of a higher standard than the 6, but not upto the same levels of say an M3, and I said quality, not ergonomics, of these you will not be dissapointed.
And of course this is just a discussion about interior, don't forget the rest of the package, this will more than make up for any disappointments (if any) that you have with the interior.
Oh and after 50,000km of hardcore driving on road and track I have yet to break anything, interior wise anyway

A few coming from under the dash, I'll get round to finding them sometime, probably just some relay or wireing that needs tiewrapping together. I do run 8.0kg/mm(450lbs) front springs and 7.0kg/mm(400lbs) rear, which is pretty hard for our crap surfaced english roads. Great on the racetrack though!
